Thread: Forum viewing issue, word wrap not working

I've looked all over trying to find a checkbox or something that will keep message word wrapping applied, but so far I haven't found it. The problem is when I open a thread or hit the next page sometimes the message text does not wrap, and you end up using the slider bar to read back and forth, which makes following the message difficult.

This doesn't occur on every page, just random ones.

I've actually seen that issue as well. Happens quite a bit when using firefox especially.

This usually happens when there is a 'word' in the thread that is too long. It's even worse whenthe posters has a very long forum-handle. I use 'word' between quotes because it does not necessarily have to be a (changed version of a) real word or even contain normal letters.

Example:***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

It has nothing to do with whatbrowser or even what OS you use. Any long word that is written continuous and does not contain punctuation or hyphens will be written as is by simple wordwrapping. (Some programs use a smarter way of word-wrapping that actually looks up words that are to long and then uses a hyphen to wrap it)

Edit: Forgot to add that this is of course tied with the font size and screen resolution. The shorter the possible amount of characters per line, the shorter the 'long word' has to be to mess things up. (And this probably includes seperation lines.)

P.s. Sorry for messing up this thread.

Using the JTL skin, but it happens while using any of them. This has happened since I started reading the forums eons ago, just got to the point of bugging me enough to finally ask about it earlier this week.

And as a poster here has shown, he has successfully broken word wrapping on this thread with his example, at least on my computer.

Ah yes, thats not the "buggy" thing, with the JTL skin word wrap actually does break but on every other skin the only way it happens is if people do the continuous words with no breaks.

Found it amusing as the same thing just happened while viewing this post, under the Life Day skin.

Edit: Gotcha, 1963explorer. Though I'm pretty sure I've seen it come up under different circumstances in Firefox. Either way though, good to know at least one culprit.

ThalDev, in case you didn't notice, Ideliberately caused this by including an un-wrappablevery long line made up of the * character in my above post.
