Thread: Alpha Testing--Has it Started?
Calandryll,
Could you or another one of the Devs go ahead and confirm that Alpha testing has in fact begun or if it has not begun, give us an explanation as what the delay is and when you expect it to start. The reason I ask this is that it was stated by a Dev, I believe TH, that Alpha testing would begin sometime in January. Following up on this would be a great way to prove that SOE is serious about it committment to communication. Lots of players are sticking with SWG in the hope that the CURB will make this game really fun again. Therefore it is improtant that we can monitor your progress.
While I would like aresponse from a Dev, since the correspodents will be doing the alpha testing, a response from one of them would be appreciated as well.
Thanks for any information you can give us.

I haven't read nor signed the NDA yet, but I can tell you I've seen some correspondents actually post the people they've picked form the community to participate in the CU alpha.
So has it started? My guess is yes. Or it's darn close.

Sorry man, NDA
Yeah, I understand you can't divulge information protected by the NDA and wouldn't ask you to. You are probably right to err on the side on not releasing information.
However, if SOE is construing the NDA to cover even the fact that Alpha testing has or has not begun, that's being a little too restrictive with the information, even if you assume the NDA is an acceptable practice for the CURB. (which I do not, but thats another issue). Now if there is a delay and you guys haven't started, I could see where the reasons why wouldbe covered by the NDA, but not the fact that you haven't started.
The Devs have an obligation to keep us informed, even if they don't release all of the information available.

Their mission is to make combat more fun, interactive, and Star War-sy. We have been taking extensive design feedback from the correspondents and alpha testers and are driving towards an alpha test which will open in a few weeks. Over the next six weeks we will be releasing more information to all players on the exciting things the Combat Upgrade will bring to SWG."

I guess they missed the January deadline.I wish they wouldexplain why there wasa delay.
At least in the interim we'll be getting more curb info.
