.....start running some monthly competions that only players who are on full subscription(not 14 day trial) can enter.

could range from asking questions to test trivia, check players graphics abilities etc etc

prizes dont even have to be that great, just some kewl stuff like a copy of jtls signed by the dev team or limited edition T-shirt, an actual piece of concept art signed by the artist and dev team. you could even offer runner up prizes of in-game cash and rare loot.

would sure be a moral booster to players and may even get some of them to come back.

Great ideas. This is something they do at E3 - give away signed box copies, posters, etc. [E3 is great for getting some nice loots]
