Thread: New Forum Version Known Issues
Problems with the forums:
- Routine login problems. I log out, and it shows the "login" option instead of my forums user, indicating that I am in fact logged out. I close the forums. I come back later, come to the forums, and somehow I'm logged in again.
- Other times, regularly, I cannot log in and get returned to the main page with the Login option and a subtext of "Trying to log in to the authentication server," or something like that

3. When hitting "reply" and not logged in, it brings up a dialogue box to log in, then brings up the forums page in the small dialogue box and non-functional in the small box, while leaving the original page un-logged in.
4. Moderators accuse us of trolling when we're pointing out the lack of response to players in the Community Relations forum, suggesting either a technical problem, or a business communications problem
5. Moderators delete or edit our remarks when we point out #4 above, or when our opinions are stated that differ from SOE's desired opinions, demonstrating a problem with forums moderation and maturity.

i had to use MSIE to post this because firefox is not working.
as it stands, using firefox version 1.0.3 does not allow you to 'Submit Post' by clicking on the button. the graphical editor shows up very nicely, however, it is useless if we cannot post.
other issues
----------------
all guild names show up as the guild name with website that i posted on my profile (for instance, everyone is showing up as being in WIKYD with the url to our website)
the same above applies to the server name
the login popup window, after you have logged in, reload to the forums. teh original page you used opened up the forums stays the same until you reload it.

The character limit was reduced from around 50,000 characters to 20,000 characters.
This prevents editing of existing guides or adding to guides stickied in many forums.
Glad to see the changes to the signature width...maybe it was just me, but it used to annoy me to no end when signatures would "break" the forum width and you'd have to scroll over just to read a message because of someone's signature.
We have enabled the Mozilla wysiwyg editor. While the editor works and is almost as good as the Internet Explorer version this feature does have some known issues. These known issues are not likely to be addressed in the near future. If these problems are an issue for you, do not fret, the original HTML editor is still available! Simply go to "My Profile", click on the "Preferences" tab and uncheck the box labelled "Use WYSIWYG editor".

This is an Admin setting that SOE can configure if they so choose up to a maximum of 60,000 characters.

Sorry, your search yielded no matching results: I get this constantly, even when looking for simple searches. Hmmm, when choosing "anytime (unsorted)" I do get results but only from 2003!! (I hope those 'changes to the search features' aren't 'as designed'!!)
Try the advanced search mode for a more refined query: That line is redundant now.
The forums update has brought an entirely new search system to the forums. As such, all posts & content must be re-indexed. Re-indexing some 20 million messages takes time. For the next 24hrs or so, you may not receive any results for your searches. As the index builds it will gradually return more results. Sorry for the inconvenience.

While they remain centered, the width of them isn't 100% along the bottom of the message, it's only about 60% of the screen. The sign in link at the top of the page brings up a pop up window that when you log in, it loads the forums in it instead of loading it on the main page. The sign up link on the right side of the forums does not do this, it loads correctly.More as I come across them.
Hmm I will jot that one down. Not sure what might be causing that off-hand. Thanks.
