Thread: Overall Community Relations Correspondent

Summation: (You don't need to read past this line if you choose not too). Create an overall Community Relations Correspondent(s) that canaid communications between the community and the mgmt team. Not to be confused with a profession corr. because their views are usually related to a specific profession and would not be inclusive of the entire customer base. Although we all may not agree with everything that is changed or implemented, if we were to know that we are actually included in the evolution of this game, much of this frustration would be alleviated. I think I speak for a majority of the players when I say that we would like to know that the game is moving in directions with the player base in mind. That pretty much sums up all the frustrations of this community.


Anyone here is welcomed to disagree. But I will tell all of you this one thing. For most of us, as in humanity in a whole, it doesn't matter how wrong or right you are, if someone comes to you in anger or you go to someone else in anger, emotions take over and reason gets thrown out of the window!


I read Garva's post.


My first emotion was anger. Simply because it seems that while we have tried to illicit direct responses on many issues, italso appearsthat we cannot get direct answers on most of them. Then, a post appears basically responding to the emotions of the community telling them to pretty much "back off".


I consider myself to be calm and collected under pressure. So this is not a complaint type post. But just some constructive suggestions that I know will make the experience we have here so much more enjoyable.


Communication!


I do trust and believe that the mgmt team at SWG has an idea of what they are doing and where they are going. I would even go as far as to say that this idea is probably concrete and probably will increase the enjoyment of this game by it's players significantly. However, the only problem with this belief is that its purely based on supposition. I am assuming and hoping that this is true. I cannot be sure that this is true because there is no adequate communication suggesting that this is true or otherwise.


That being said, while there are many changes that many of us feel are important to our gaming experience here, there is one change that extremely imprtant as well.Communication.


There appears to be a shroud of secrecy this whole experience is enveloped in. I don't know if this is for competitive reasons. Or if there is a lack of direction in the mgmt of this game. Or even if mgmt feels that regardless of their reasonings, the community will still react negatively. Whatever the case may be, there needs to be an effort on mgmt's behalf to either let us know, with accuracy, fidelity and lack of concealment, exactly what type of product I can expect to enjoy. I have been playing for shortly over a year and there has been about 16 publishes and I am going on my 3rd expansion and I still never now what to expect from 1 day to the next. It would be beneficial for all involved if we were able to have an effort to increase communication. This would allow us to address all coherent concerns for both sides in what is growing into a disaster by the day.


So I would like to recommend to the mgmt team that we establish Community Relations correspondents that would serve the purpose of providing important information to and from the community base and mgmt in order to prioritize, address, coordinate and provide a transcript (key!) of discussions.


I have no doubt that we all want this experience to run smoothly as well as be enjoyable. So let us come to the table and work on seeing this problem "go away!"

The question would really relate to is,


Do they have enough time to do this


Do they have enough people trying to work on the issues


Do they listen to the Corro's


Does the few that work on our behalf and take our heat from Bugs and issues have the power to Fix the Bugs and Issues or do they themselves get swept under the Rug too?

Unfortunately, it would appear that Tiggs is a correspondent for SOE and not necessarily our community. And as to who would have time? I would propose that we have 2 or 3 players who would volunteer to organize and present information to both sides. I wuold volunteer in a heartbeat because I really do love this game and would like to continue to enjoy it.

In order for that to work, communication must exist and as it is now it doesn't. The communication problem imo will not go away if SOE doesn't put down some time/work in to it.

agreed. That is why we should look to having SWG establish player reps who will voluteer not to further single professions, but the community as a whole. They could work with Garva or Tiggs or whomever.

I do wonder if the communication failure is higher up. I think as far as passing information to the community is concerned Tiggs and co post it when they are given it/told to do so. The real problem lies with the producers/developers?


Just guessing ... no actual knowledge of these things.

Unfortunately, I remember a recent incident where the entire jedi community was mislead about a particular issue. This post came from Tiggs. I don't want to say that Tiggs deceived us directly, but Ill have to admit that Im a little skeptical about what is posted by her. Not a personal attack. Just a breach of trust. Were just looking for someone who SWG will be candid with and we can trust to help us do what needs to be done.
