Thread: My list of forum issues...
Some of my forum issues:
1. The "Save your password" function doesnt work. Each time Internet Explorer is closed I am logged out at the next visit and must manually log on.
2. The "Outdent" button add the illegal "style" tag, which previously locked the message from being posted but nowgive the message "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.". At least we arent forced to manually edit the post to remove this tag anymore.
3. If you get the "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body" error for a reason, all manually added LINKS are automaticly removed as well.
4. If you edit your post after you post it, all manually added links are removed.
5. If there's an extra space (ENTER) between a quoted message and the horizontal line in the end of the quote, and you try to delete it, you get the "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body" message and the space is re-added to the post. In the code it looks like this before: </P><HR> and this after <HR></P>. It's the second <HR></P> that refuses to work, so the last space will continue to be there.
6. With the latest changes, the font is a bit small for some people, and the View>Text Size appears to have no effect on this.
7. You must now hold down shift and press enter twice to add a space between two textblocks. The <P> tag that is normally used when simply pressing "enter" seems to not work properly anymore.
8. If you use SHIFT+ENTER to add spaces and then use the "Edit As HTML", all linebreaks will be removed next time you go back to Graphical Editor, or post your message.
If there are more bugs that should be added to this, let me know. Theese are the problems I know now.

I believe theese are temporary issues when the login server is down... I just had it for over an hour.

I used Amiga up to 1999, and after that I promised myself to never use non-mainstream software/hardware if I could avoid it. I just dont feel it's worth the hassle. Using "standard" is often the ticket to making things work, even if this is one exception of that rule.
Anyways, you should add that the "date" filter seems to be bugged in advanced search. (Date -> Return only messages posted -> (Should be a menu but there isn't now))

MsNiL is now officially my new hero. (Heroine?)
I can't count the number of bandwagons I've seen come and go in the wonderful world of computers and software. Why did some people insist on buying DECs? Because they weren't IBM products (never mind that IBM's stuff actually worked). Why did people happily pay extra money for Apple products even though PC peripherals were less expensive? Because all the cool people don't support corporate behemoths (never mind that Apple itself was a large corporation).
Now we have "open source" as the latest cult, with Firefox the current icon of adoration. Never mind that even the most cursory review of tech newsreveals that Firefox has plenty of criticalsecurity flaws of its own, as well as other usability issues -- all the cool people say to use it, ergo it is perfect and holy and must never be questioned.
Well, I dissent. I saluteFirefox for innovation, but "different" does not automaticallymean "better."Isee no need for Lithium to spend time trying totweak their forum software towork with Firefox (or Opera, Lynx, etc.)when -- as MsNiL correctlypoints out --there are numerousforum features thatneed to be fixed. Let'sfocus on gettingsomething useful doneinstead of merelysaluting the latest bandwagon as it rattles past.
