Thats right, I said it, MACROS are effecting the GCW with AFK farming of points.

This was a topic discussed of deleteing from the gamea while ago, why wasnt it implemented?

Yes.. afk farming is not in your EULA, and is NOT illegal. But it is effecting the game.

----

Right now on starsider, on some planets, the war CANNOT be won... why? Because factions are afk grinding other factions for points, and just building bases.... bases, nothing else, just bases, because its a put down once investment for the GCW... and can be replaced in 2 seconds if its destroyed because of all the afk grind points they have built up.

----

Macros need to leave.

... and to the discussion about entertainers being afk macroing... no thats not a big issue imho.. they are useless to the game... let em macro all they want... they would probably quit or go combatant if they werent allowed to macro... or better yet... since SOE is about marketing... make it so that entertainers are the only ones allowed to macro (entertainer abilities).

Discuss....

Ya know...it is a big issue. It's the number one issue for all entertainers, whether dancer or musician. We've been trying to get these removed for over 2 years because we *do not* want recursive macros. We *loathe* AFK bots.

The combat players who think we're "useless" (We're not) combined with the suits not caring enough to remove recursive macros, has put us into this postion.

Now that combat players are whining about AFK grinding, something might be done about it. I do understand your frustration. I have over 2 years invested in my beloved entertainer professions. And no we WON'T go combatant or quit if they were taken away. If anything, you'd see a rise of ATK entertainers, doing what we're supposed to do. Entertaining. Not being some stupid bot.

Again, I understand your frustration. However, you do not need to insult an entire playerbase in your frustration. Especially one that *agrees* with you.

I understand what you mean with afk entertainers... but I wouldnt sit in front of a computer all day either to click flourish 1, 2 etc.

How is the entertainer class not useless atm?

I accept your apology. Please understand that when you call an entire playbase "useless", it is offensive. Please don't do that over in our profession forums. They probably won't be as nice as me.

AFK entertainers to do not sit at their keyboards. They set a repeating macro so they can go to bed, go to the movies, whatever. The ATK entertainer also uses macros, but they also talk to people, entertain and such.

We're not useless. I am constantly being hired for gigs in player cities and parties. Crafters request our Inspiration Buff services. Some of us coordinate events for various guilds and cities. We're not useless; we're quite valuable to the people who want our services.

You do not understand the need for an entertainer, because you aren't a social player. And that's okay. There's room for all of us. We should just be respectful of each other's playstyles. I imagine if I went around saying that combat players are useless because all they do is lag the system and destroy all immersion into a Star Wars role-playing game.

It's not true of all combat players, but a good amount of them really don't care that they're ruining the game for roleplayers. That is why we discuss that sort of thing in the roleplay forum; to try to work out how to put all of our playstyles together.

I agree with your original sentiment. AFK HAS GOT TO GO.

Yeah.. okay you got me... im guilty.. ive hired yall before.. and will probably hire again pretty soon actually...

... and how combatants are ruining this game.. I have no idea.. because the game is based on the GCW and roleplaying.. seeing how it is no longer based on a timeline.

But for the sake of keeping this thread on topic... macros have got to go... discuss!

*smile* We do agree on the AFK going away. Just a small point...combatants aren't ruining the game; I was just using it as an example. I think all in all, we (as a community) should be more respectful of people's various playstyles.

AFK? That's not a playstyle. It's not playing the game at all. It's borking the economy and causing a hostile environment.

I have always been baffled by the whole AFK entertainer thing. Specifically, I can't understand the psychology of the player who does it. What kind of person would pay $15 a month to play an already underappreciated profession with their character running on AFK while the actual "player" spends the time watching TV or whatever. What is the incentive? This is the main reason why I've never really spoken out against AFK entertainers, because I can't figure out if they are doing it as a sort of altruistic charity (due to the relative rarity of of entertainers) or if there is a more sinister motive.

1. The player is grinding to trade in the XP.
2. It's an easy way for people to make money
3. It's an easy way to have free buffs on an alt toon for your guildies.

If the combat players would refuse to use AFK bots, it might be different. Unfortunately, they don't. That's why we're in this mess to begin with. Players won't stop using them, SOE won't eliminate them so they continue to litter the Dant MO and other places.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that none of these AFKers realise that you don't need to be in a Cantina to get XP any more. Nor do you get more XP when someone is watching. If you really want to be an entertainer and want to grind the XP, you can do so in the privacy of your own home. Many people who *do* want to be ents do this. They know how to get leveled up because they read the Entertainer forums.

If someone wants to grind XP to turn in at the village because it's easy, I really wish they'd just head to their own private homes and dance there.

Many of us true entertainers would *love* to work the big grind places, but we can't. The AFK spam/botting is horrendous.

if one side had an opportunity to afk grind the points that the other didnt, then i guess it would be lopsided. just so happens there are poi's that both sides can take advantage of.

i was at a party the other day and saw a guy in a leather jacket and thought " thats cool". a few minutes later i saw another guy with a leather vest on and thought "thats not really cool at all". then i realised, cool is all about leather sleeves.

i own leather sleeves.

AFK Faction point farming has made the Smugglers ability to buy Faction completely useless.

No-one (or very very few) people will pay what it costs Smugglers to buy faction when they can either buy faction form AFK'ers for half the price or AFK it themselves.

You guys should bring this up with your correspondent. The only way to get AFK play removed from game is if the combat folk work with their corrs. The corrs need to present to the devs that *ALL* combat professions support the removal of AFK play.

It's not an issue with macros; it's an issue with unattended game play.

Why would you go to a corr of each proffesion forum, when it doesnt pertain to that discussion? It belongs in this forum, if not here, then where? ... exactly...

... it makes smugglars useless, and running around killing bases all day is useless and stupid because of the afk grinds. There is no GCW... only base-drop-2min-after-destruction
