To Whom It May Concern:
Since the start of 2005, SOE has talked a lot about imrpoving the game, improving communication, getting the community more involved, and looking to make SWG the game the players want it to be. This was not new to the long-time customers. We had heard this all many times before. And every time before this year, the words and actions were hollow - without true meaning.
In the last 6 weeks, we have seen meaning to the words. Things are starting to *happen* in the game - for the better. Communication was both proactive and inclusive of the community. It seems after 18 months of waiting for positive change to happen, that it was finally occuring. Such things as increasing the amount a lot could hold, reducing wait times in game, basically removing the "un-fun" components. A few "controversial" changes were proposed in response to vendors, loot sharing, etc. And the Dev's, including the community, did the right thing - they delayed the implementation because the solutions were only partially complete. SOE, it appeared, had taken 2 steps forward.
And now the 1 step back - the Feign Death "nerf" for Smugglers.
Did Feign Death need to be changed? Sure. Did the Smuggler community give a number of contructive suggestions, easily found at the top of the Smuggler forum? Yes - these had been there for months. What do we get? No acknowledgement of these suggestions, no input or inclusion of the Smuggler community, only 2 posts stating that FD is a "bug" that is getting fixed.
I'm sorry, but your posts are the old SOE - half-truths and ingoring of the community.
I have played since Beta 3. Smuggler was one of the last professions for anyone to get to try, as there was no Smuggler trainer in Beta 3 until only a few weeks before go-live. But since that time, up until a few days ago, at no time did *any* member of SOE identify Feign Death as being bugged. Telling us otherwise now sounds suspiciously like a lie - an easy way to justify a change without talking to the community. Meanwhile numerous other bugs, long identified, go unfixed. You words and actions in this matter lack credibility.
Work with us like you said you would. Tell us the truth like you said you would. Tell us nothing if you have nothing to tell. But doing what you have most recently done is a huge step backward. You have destroyed the trust you have been earning over the prior 6 weeks. I urge you to delay this change and work with the community like you told us you would. Make your words mean something - make this trust grow again. Correct this one step back before it is too late, and let's work together to make this game better.

I'd like to hear an answer to this concern. The smugglers are some of the most passionate, creative, dedicated, and verbal groups in SWG. Why is the communication with this group so poor?

Bravo my friend, Bravo. Its sad, Smuggler is such an important part of SW but in SWG its like its nothing. When did you hear memntion of a Architect or Bio Engineer in the star wars movies? Never. But there are severl refrences to han and smuggling in the trilogy. Hell, the whole first 20min of ROTJ when there in jabbas palace is becuase of him smuggling. /endRamble.
Bottom line, FD needed a change, but dont lable it as somthing it was not. For once, show smugglers some love, next to squad leader it will be the last to get any real work done to it when it should have been at the top of the list.

I suspect is it related to the force and venom the smugglers have always launched at the devs since the first day of live. Smugglers have always attacked the devs and with time have gotten more personal and vicious. Really you catch more flies with honey. If you want them to listen and respect you - you need to do the same for them!
