In Austin, our Star Wars Galaxies™ team is focused on a big change to the game's combat system. The "Combat Upgrade" is now live on the SWG test server, and it's getting very positive feedback from the SWG playerbase. The team is also putting the finishing touches on Star Wars Galaxies™: Episode III Rage of the Wookies™, which launches in less than a month. The SWG playerbase is very strong, and we're continuing to put a lot of effort into making Star Wars Galaxies™ even better and adding new content all the time. The latest expansion pack adds Episode III content into the universe -- something our SWG players were asking for!
The selected sentance makes me think that SoE has a veeery selective hearing for feedback. As ususal, they only listen to the positive feedback and ignore any criticizm.
I would, too, if most of the "criticism" was "OMG teh CU is teh sux!1one!!"Go visit the profession forums, stud. There's a plethora of constructive feedback to the effect of "Why are you doing this to us, if it ain't broke, don't break it."
Ah, but it IS "broke" as you say.
Or at least...it was.No. Parts of it were broken and need fixing. The rest was fine. However, they're somewhat fixing the broken and majorly breaking the working.
And in my opinion (and obviously the devs', too), the problems with the game needed change to fix them.
Seriously, though. If you don't like the way the game's going, you know where the door is. But if you do plan on quitting, please, just do it. Don't yammer on and on about how the game is ruined.

Finally found a solid reason why this game is, as others have said, becoming more WOW-like or EQ2-izied:http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/news/sdetail5375.html?story=5375Sorry, don't know how to clickify...and I know its over a week old, but this reporter probably got his facts from the same place Mr. Smedley got his SWG facts.
You DO know that was an April Fools Joke, right?

I think you mispelled something there... ![]()
Hmmm... as much as I love the CU so far, that article was a little disturbing. While I think there are a lot of people who are ok with the CU so far, his statement about "very" positive feedback was a bit off base.
I thought Tiggs was the community relations director?

Hello Everyone,
First off, I'd like to say thanks for all of the wonderful ideas we received from you after my last posting. Having this ongoing dialogue is something SOE is committed to in a major way, and it's one of the biggest things you all asked for. So you'll see an increase in our public presence, not just on our boards, but on a lot of the fansites, as well. And we've created a new position within our ranks, the Director of Community Relations, specifically to prioritize you, the community, within our service offerings. Alan Crosby, previously EQ Community Relations Manager, will be stepping into this role, and all of SOE's community managers and representatives will report to him, while still maintaining close ties to the game teams, of course. Under this new structure, we will become even more responsive, even more dedicated to customer focus!
I'd like to give you a general update on our games this posting:
Since my last post, we launched our first Adventure Pack for EverQuest II "The Bloodline Chronicles"and over half our player base is already playing it! We are committed to releasing new content between Expansion Packs that goes beyond our live updates, and so we'll continue to release these Adventure Packs on a regular basis -- a first for our industry.
Thanks,
John Smedley

The selected sentance makes me think that SoE has a veeery selective hearing for feedback.
As ususal, they only listen to the positive feedback and ignore any criticizm.

Go visit the profession forums, stud. There's a plethora of constructive feedback to the effect of "Why are you doing this to us, if it ain't broke, don't break it."

Normally, I accept what people say. When I don't accept what they say, there is something .... amiss. So let's just accept that my little red flag went up and my "executive translator" produced some very interesting translations.

Seriously, though. If you don't like the way the game's going, you know where the door is. But if you do plan on quitting, please, just do it. Don't yammer on and on about how the game is ruined. Are you even READING my responses, or are you just providing standard responses from a checklist??YES, SOME of the game needed fixing. HOWEVER, they are CHANGING things that have NOTHING to do with the BROKEN aspects of the game, thus BREAKING them. And spare me that "just quit" line. I will fight as hard as I can for as long as I can to keep this game from being ruined for me and then and only then will I quit. If YOU can't handle criticism, stop reading my posts.
Actually, I was reading from a checklist.
And you're not criticizing me, so I could care less what you say about SOE. As for fighting, have fun with that, because you're not going to change anything at this point. Best thing you can do is help us test and hope for a smooth launch.
See ya at the cancel subscription screen.
On the subject of the letter.. The higher up you are in a company the less you know about your product. Do you really think the development team will report a negative feedback to the CU when it's their job on the line?
I bet John Smedley has NEVER looked at these boards or any other game forum in his life and if he ever does he will not like what he is reading.
I just wish the Dev's would have given us a Combat Balance and not a completely new system as this.
/oh well
