Thread: John Smedley's Letter to the Community: April 7th, 2005

Stay on target.
Agreed.
So, the topic at hand:
1. Of players expressing their opinions, the far and away majority are saying that they don't like the CU.
2. Despite the expression of this opinion, SOE brass is saying it's getting very positive feedback. There's an obvious discrepancy here -- this thread alone provides plenty of example of how the community's opinion is widely anti-CU. What we don't have from Mr. Smedley is any indication as to the source of *his* claim.
3. Since this thread has opened, players expressing opinions strongly against Mr. Smedley's apparently intentional ploy to mislead the community have been deleted without explanation. I myself have had three posts deleted because someone on SOE payroll doesn't like what's being said here, with many other posters reporting the same.
So in summary, the situation as it currently sits is that we have plenty of evidence to the contrary of Mr. Smedley's assertion of "positive feedback," while neither he nor his staff is providing the basis of this claim in the first place. That sort of behavior and disrespect of the customer gives the feeling of being a sort of psychological trick to generate hype -- it's as though they're trying to generate "positive feedback" by reporting that there already is plenty, which, thus far, seems to be false.
I'm eager to read whatever datasources were used to substantiate this claim. If it can be justified, I think we'll all be very surprised. If it cannot, then SOE brass are liars by definition: intentional reporters of mistruth.
We challenge them to proove what they say, they answer in silence and censorship. Why?
Agreed.
Nice Siggy BTW ![]()
I don't know for sure, but it was posted previously here and all the responses were saying that it was an April Fools Joke.

Sorry, that was an official April Fools Joke of Allakhazam. So don't cancel, fight.
Can you prove to me that the letter from Allakhazam is a joke? I really need to know the truth here. I've already cancelled my subscriptions and posted on my guilds forums. Some of the others will be following suit so I need proof that the "merger" isn't real.

the nicest thing about that crazy statement is that everybody can makeup ones own mind. Just have a look at the daily vote in the testcenter board. as for now its >450 votes with 71% = 1 - NO FUN AT ALL ........ and thats only for today
The in game exit polls are more accurate.
So I post:

Are you even READING my responses, or are you just providing standard responses from a checklist??
YES, SOME of the game needed fixing. HOWEVER, they are CHANGING things that have NOTHING to do with the BROKEN aspects of the game, thus BREAKING them.
And spare me that "just quit" line. I will fight as hard as I can for as long as I can to keep this game from being ruined for me and then and only then will I quit. If YOU can't handle criticism, stop reading my posts.
I don't foresee them chaging the games HAM system, buff system, or even weapon system back to the original design. They're pushing a new envelope here, one which goes to eliminate the massive unbalance between powergamers/ubergrinders and casual gamers/new players.
Face it, most of the live games unbalance comes from the HAM system ALONE. Buffs ruined this game. I was there before buffs were around, and I'm GLAD to see them dumbed down again. As for the everything else about the combat system that has changed...I can only guess that this is how everything was supposed to work in the old version. Health was meant to be your "main" source of HP. Action and Mind were secondary to that, and were meant to be primarily for using specials and abilities. The CU makes SENSE. Don't knock it because it's different. Open your mind to something new and give it a thorough examination before you cast it into the fires and call it crap.

sure thing, the trend is quite plausible for me. i get more and more frustrated each time i go for TC .......and concering the exit vote, even when i had still faith in CU (the first 2 or 3 sessions on TC) my votes for what i had seen were solid 1s, stating in the text window that the graphics deserves a -10 (on the scale 1 to 5 ... =). At that time i was not angry but voted based on the poor execution of the good concepts i still believed in .... Now after 4 TC sessions i guest i have lost faith, because there is not the slightest change for the better to be seen there .....
do you now what the real tank template in this game is ?? .... being a developer or executive at SOE: Now matter how reasonable the objective is, you can resisit without any harm or change in mind .... LOL
