Thread: Do you log in from someplace out of the norm?
Because of the 3rd Party program rues, I probably should not tell you this ... but ...
I designed a program that lets me read chat log information and then reply to it using predeisgnated /alias commands which I write out to the file system. I use this with a J2ME interface I designed to enable me to receive and reply to /tell messages (via my mobile phone) from a select few individuals while I am on the road and not able to access my computer.
I have recently started project that parses mail messages from select people and tries to send the to the phone's interface as well. I have a project on my "drawing board" that will parse logon and logoff message from TeamSpeak and (using the same predesignated aliases) send them to a city-wide chat channel.
Sorry ... this interface is not available for download as I believe I am walking a fine line on the 3rd-party tools rule as it is. If SOE would be interested in providing some immutability to these interfaces ... I would be very interested in helping you extend SWG and other games (or aspects of them) out into therest of the computer world.
I realize this is not "playing" the game as you intended ... but I thought you might be interested in the extend people are going to to remain connected to the world of SWG.

I spent 3 months last year logging in via a cell phone connected to my laptop in an undisclosed location thousands of miles from home. That's pretty much all I can say. I've also logged in, the same way, while onboard a C130, a submarine(in port), and at this great sushi bar right outside the base
Would that great sushi bar be nicknamed "THE FISH TANK"?

I log in at school all the time while I am in my computer class... got suspended once too for doing it...
Here is all you need!
Alt + Tab!
I'd say that I have no "normal" login place anymore. I've been playing since beta, and have always been a heavy business traveller. As such I tend to play alot in airport terminals, hotel rooms, and even played on "Connexxion by Boeing" while 37K feet in the air! I've played over dial-up, WI-FI, CDMA, EVDO, and yes on the LAN.
One of my most memorable times in SWG was during beta one night while I was in a hotel room in Monterey, Mexico, playing with a bunch of Germans. I've played SWG in almost every major airport in the US and have played in the following countries:
Australia
Singapore
Hong Kong
Mexico
England
Germany
France
Canada

haha, hoho, hehe, hihi..
but seriously it is out of the ordinary right?
wasting time.
For about a year after I moved from New Orleans to the New York area I traveled back and forth almost weekly. I flew Jetblue out of JFK and if you don't know they offer free wi-fi. When I first started flying them the flights were not very packed I took the OHMYGODISITREALLYTHISEARLY flight so there wasn't a lot of activity on their network. I would log into the game on monday morning and pass the wait for my flight shopping for CA's or AA's or arranging my house. I am in the kind of job where I wear a tie and sometimes a suit to work. I once had a guy dressed the same ask me "how that business is going", I asked "what business" and he replied gaming. I told him I think it's going great, you guys get my $16 per month and you would never take me for a gamer.
