here use firefox and it works fine. The PS forums also may have
different settings, it could result from us not allowing images and
html but thats something that needs to be retained on this particular
forum.

I tried posting with Firefox last night... It allowed me to go and write in the graphical editor, but when I pressed Submit post, it did nothing... Tried multiple times, it didn't post anything. Also clicking "Edit as HTML" and "Preview Post" did nothing...

GarVa i meant the fact that most firefox users can not post using the graphical interphase. As you yourself say here there is indeed a problem with many firefox users. This is why i am suggesting that you contact the PS forum admins and maybe with comparing settings and stuff you could find out where the problem is ? Just an Idea that may or may not solve the problem, but imho i'ts worth a try. One more thing, i have 500+ posts and 12moth, shouldent i be Pilot rank ? Can you try to fix me up please ? Would appreaciate it, thanks. Message Edited by CeboWookie on 08-02-2005 08:25 PM

For all of us, the submit button might as well be a rock.. it doesn't work. I'd keep poking lithium until they look into it.. |

Again, I am posting on firefox, virrago uses firefox, I use nothing but firefox at home as well and have 0 problems posting with the graphical editor. I am not sure why you are having issues, make sure that you have updated firefox (thee was an update recently) that may solve the problem, also make sure your java is updated.

Hopefully I will have an answer, and can post links to what to download/what to run to make Firefox work with the GUI editor.
Since it CAN be done, all I have to do is figure out what Garva and Virrago have on their systems that I don't
If GarVa and Virrago are able to use it with the current FireFox, and the current JRE and we can't, I suspect it's some sort of security setting with Lithium.
This is why it'd be great to see what version of Java and which version of FireFox they both use, so I can duplicate that on this PC. I am running XP w/Service Pack 2 and all of the latest updates.

The editor works just fine, its the clicking of the submit button that seems to be where things go south on my end. Its pretty much like there is no submit button.

Hate to say it guys, but I can't find an answer for you. I've tried every version of firefox from 1.01 to current (and even the DeerPark alpha), and 4 different Java JRE's from 1.42 to the current 1.5 version. No luck, submit can't be clicked.

Wow. Way to go wildcat84! Thanks for trying all that out. I suspect that's more testing of Firefox than Lithium ever did!

If GarVa would get someone from Lithium in contact with me, I'm willing to try to test for them to find a solution. I have 4 PC's here, and years of experience in QA testing, and I know what I'm doing...
I HATE Internet Exploiter with a passion (I am in IT, and spend hours cleaning crap off PC's that exploits IE to get in) but I love the graphical editor...
I'd love to get that working within Firefox, and with it's growing popularity, I don't see that any major blog/forum software, such as Lithium, can afford to not run at their best within it.
I am offering whatever help I can.

Guys, I'm a little unbusy at work right now, so I'm working on this problem.

There was a extention for firefox (IEview I believe) that allows you to open pages up in internet explorer. I wish I knew more about extensions, but if I did I would make it just for SWG so when you click on 'reply' it automatically transfers you to IE then when you click submit it exits you out. *shrug* something to think about.
I don't know what kind of solutions you're working on
If you use Firefox, click on Tools->JavaScript console. If you use the graphical editor then you see the error that appears.
From what GarVa just said I believe that in the admin graphical Editor that JS error does not appear (I think it has do do with a not properly instanciated Variable/missing function in the namespace).
If if helps, we could post the page we get and you can compare it to the one you as an admin get.
EDIT: Wow my 600th post was actually useful

Plus I just got one in my javascript window, "Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to set property HTMLDocument.designMode"
Garva.
I challenge you to use my account login and post using Firefox. Send me a PM and I'll give you the userid / password.
I'll wager 1,000,000 credits of mine that the graphical interface won't work.
(for everyone else see my link below for tips using firefox)
