Thread: Forum Ranks discrepancy? Why is my rank stuck?

I just re-activated my SWG accountthis week after being gone for just over a year and I'mcurrently listedas a Petty Officer, rank 20. Now technically I registered in June '03 which was just over 21 months ago but I cancelled my account and was inactive for approximately 14 months of that. My forum rank tells me that the rank system acknowledges that my account is at least 18 months old and I currently have 580 posts (only about 10 of which were made since reactivating). This does not add up to the correct forum rank for me.

Assuming that, for some reason, I'm onlycreditted as having 18 months (based on the requirements for my current rank 20) plus my post count should yield a forum rank of 24 (Squadron Leader). If however, I'm credittedwithhaving an account age equal to that of an account created in June '03 then I would have 21 months + 580 posts which would yeild a rank 27 (Wing Commander).

I'm not complaining about my forum rank because truth be told, I've only been a part of the community for roughly 7 months due to the time that my account was inactive. I'm just trying to bring to light a possible flaw in the forum rank system and maybesatisfy my curiousity on the matter.

This would be confirmed if I was to move up to rank 21 (Pilot) instead of the correct rank of 24 or 27. I'm going to give it a few days and see if my rank changes....maybe give it until the 22nd month since my account creation which will be the 28th of this month.

Again, I'm not complaining. I'm just curious as to how the system actually works compared to what is listed in Garva's rank thread.

I think the star ranking requirements MUST still be here, which for some people who where derlibertly grifed with 1 stars for a long time will make it impossable for them to get certain ranks. Maybe this should be looked into. I know I qualify for the squadon leaders rank according to the post with out the star ranksings but i know i did'nt have the star rateing according to the old one. Which I must assume is the reason why i'm just a crewmen.

It's not readily available if that's what you're asking.

I can look at my profile and see the day my account was created. I got the time frame for the inactive period by reviewing my account info at the station store and compared the last billing date listed to the current date to determine the number of months the account was inactive. The rank requirements are based on the sticky thread above by Garva and the rest of it is just doing the number crunching associated with it.

There is a sticky... I wish I had seen it before posting...

Anyway, I am sad. My rank is maxed out and will stay that way for quite some time :-(. I don't like purple. I think it should change.

Here are the ranks.

Sounds like you should be a Pilot.

I need to consolidate all of my crap into one post...

Technically, I shouldn't be a Pilot. Here's why:

Rank 20 (Petty Officer) = 18 Months <----Current rank

Rank 21 (Pilot)= 12 Months + 400 Posts

Rank 24 (Squadron Leader) =16 Months +425 Posts

Based on this, anyone that meets the requirement for Rank 20 and has more than 425 posts will automatically jump to rank 24 based on the posts rank requirements. I am currently rank 20 and have 500+ posts so at the very minimum I should be rank 24.

Is there a listing anywhere of the old ranking system that included the star ranks? I'm curious where I fell on that ranking system. I don't know what my star rank was exactly, but I know it was at least a couple stars since I had quite a few high-rated guide posts about how to hang items on walls back in the beginning when there was no "/move up".

Hopefully a moderator or admin could chime in on this and clarify things for us

forum ranks and icons...where is my storm-trooper icon? Others who have less posts than I do and have about the same (or even less) time as I have have the ST icon, but the blasted thing isn't in any of my 3 folders under icons. Anyone have any thoughts?

Not to hijack this thread...it just seems to tie in with the forum rank discussion as you get certain icons at certain ranks.
