Just started the game (1 week), (thankfully I didnt listen to all the negative comments, I am having a blast), and was wondering about a template for a commando.
Brawler - Tera Kasi 4, rest 0
Master Commando
Pistoleer 0/0/4 (Pist Tech)/4 (pistol Stance)
47 Points left over
Questions:
1.Would it be better to drop the pistoleer skills and move into ther Terra Kasi specialist skill set ?
2 . With the 47 leftover skill points I was thinking of either gettingbasic medical and putting the rest back into2 remaining pistoleer skill sets or getting into smuggling (drty Fighting, and either splicing or spices
. What do you think ?
3.Off the commando skill sets which are the most important (tactis, heavy , flame, or acid rifle) ?
4.Do I shortchange the Commando if I dont make him a master, are there some skills I could short change (tactics, heavy) anduse the points to get some other skills that seem useful: medical or more smuggling or more pistol ?
Thanks for any feedback ?

Tough call - Teras Kasi has some very useful skills, as well as melee damage mitigation and the ability to meditate your wounds away. On the other hand, using the right Pistoleer skills with a launcher pistol can be very effective. You may have to decide whether defense (Teras Kasi) or offence (Pistoleer) is more important to you. Personally, I would take master Commando andmaster Teras Kasi; then use whatever skill points you have remaining to get some effective Pistoleer specials. But that's just my 2 cents.

Whoops, there's more questions there. Uh, I would say the flamethrower specialization is the most important. Heavy Acid Rifles are kind of messed up right now, they don't do the kind of damage that flamethrowers do, even though they probably should compliment each other. As for master Commando, I dunno, haven't made it that far yet. Commando veterans, please comment, I'm just a noob to your awe inspiring class.

Well first, I'd definately take novice medic. Unless you are constantly in a group with a doctor when you're playing, you'll find the ability to use B-stimpacks invaluable. I personally wish there was a way to get that +5 medicine use without spending 15 skill points, but there isn't.
As said before pistol vs tera kasi is sort of a judgement call. I'm personally a master of both commando and tera kasi and think it works very well, as commandos currently are a bit lacking in the defense department and it makes me more versatile. But don't underestimate the launcher pistol. Its quite a nice weapon, despite the lack of armor piercing, and being good at pistoleer will let you do a lot of damage with it (though don't forget it gives heavy weapon xp, so you'll have to go through pistoleer with another weapon).
Flamethrower is definetly the most important tree, and you'll want to work on that first. The rest is a little gimped...though we have good hopes for the combat balance publish. The heavy support weapons can be sometimes useful for things like turret blasting, but they're very expensive since they have a fixed number of shots. Grenades aren't much use, but ranged mitigation is, which comes from field tactics. Acid rifles are currently no good at all, outside of looking cool. A lot of people choose to take just the flamethrower branch and not the rest.
I, however, am a master commando and regret nothing! The master commando skill box does actually grant some niceness - you get a sizeable bonus to both ranged and melee defense (there's still not a lot for the profession as a whole, almost all of it is in that master box), as well as a pretty big bonus to flamethrower accuracy, as well as of course, ranged mitigation 3. Also, master commando is one of the few people that can wear mandalorian armor (along with masters of bounty hunter, squad leader, and ranger), which may seem a bit gimpy now, but they're going to mess with all the armors, as I understand, so there's no telling what it will be like later in comparison to others.

1. depends on what yo uwan tot do, PvP or PvE
2. flame tree is our only really powerful one
3. there is not much difference between someone with flame 4 and master.
4. pistoleer gove more defence (and has dodge than)TKA exept melee defence
so there my 2 creds
