I am closing in on Master Commando, and I've been ignoring the existence ofHeavy Weapons. I haven't seenan HPBL, Acid Stream Launcher,or Heavy Lightning Cannonbeing sold and, obviously, I haven't used them nor seen them used. How are they, any good? And, are they useful in any type of PvE environment (I enjoy both PvE and PvP, just assuming they are used more often in PvP battles)? Or is the Commando prof ignoring them as a whole? I am beginning to think I will have to order them from a Master Weaponsmith, as Commando weapons probably exceed the 6000cr bidding limit on the Bazaar. Talk to me.

By the way, if you're in the Intrepid galaxy and have these intriguingtoys for sale, email me or send a tell, I'm in the market for big fat, ridiculous weapons of mass destruction. I love seeing Stormtroopers disintegrate (if you're Imperial, insert "Meatlumps" where I said "Stormtroopers.")

The only heavy weapon of use is the one weaponsmiths dontreally liketo make. The Rocket launcher. Yeah mainly used in PvP against turrets and AT's. I use HPB's and RL's sometimes when I'm really bored or soloing something waaaaaaaaaay over my head. You are right though your going to have to either shop around at vendors or contact a weaponsmith. Find a good one and become his best friend.

I use the Rocket Launcher, Lightning Beam Cannon, and Heavy Particle Beam Cannon. I also use most of the types of Grenades also. Make sure you get them all sliced too....Rocket Launchers + 30%dmg slice = UBER

With my main on Ahazi, I can frequently find HPBCs and sometimes RLs on the bazaar for 6k credits. You just have to pay attention to the stats before jumping on them since some of those RLs only have 550 min/1000 max damage. The bazaar ones are probably not top of the line, but if you want to play around and see how they are, they're not a bad choice.

From messing around, the RL is decent from what everyone says but I have nothing but bad luck. I can rarely hit and the blast radius never seems to hit additional targets within its reach.. I watched someone Dizzy/KD an opponent, run back for 35-40m and hit the guy withthe HPBC... ouch!. The HAL seems pretty useful. It's Acid damage, fast (I have one for 4.8 speed), fair damage for a heavy, decent accuracy at close ranges.

Grenades I ignore altogether.

I'm primarily a weaponsmith but have a commando alt. After having mastered commando it gave me a few ideas on how to modify my builds, one of these beign specific to your issue there. I started tacking on advanced weapon scopes. They add another 14 HAM above the regular scopes but where regular scopes add 14 to hit, my advanced scopes add 42. I found using these at ideal range significantly boosted accuracy.

Also with splash I find that targetting lairs works best. This would require you to work as part of a team, but such is the use of a heavy 'support' weapon. My friend would engage the lair directly and I would just target the lair with rockets. You never miss a lair and hence you won't lose splash - whereas targetting an NPC could miss and you'll lose all the splash. Having the partner stand right up on the lair means the targets are all pretty much surrounding said lair, so you get good splash.

Nothing funnier than watching my friend engage a baz nitch lair, let him engage and pop out the spawns and then fire off a quick succession of a couple of rockets. Baz nitches fly back dead in every compass direction all at once.

Never seen splash on a HPBC even though it's listed - perhaps it relies on LOS straight line splash rather than an AOE.

Definitely slice your heavy weapons.

The rocket launcher is your best option for ranged big damage. Dont trust the grenades, chances are you'll hurt yourself more than your opponent.

Weaponsmith's don't make a lot of these because hardly anyone buys them-they're tired of buying these expendable weapons that just have to be replaced constantly. Apparently the cost of manufacturing them is beyond what a commando is willing to pay, so the weaponsmith takes it in the shorts on the manufacture of those.

Thanks, all. I mastered Commando and got those guns! I had a lot of fun with buffing up and attacking imperial bases and trying to take on like 15 STs and a AT-ST. I finally felt like a true rebel. Of course,I got my butt handed to me by that AT-ST, but I got close, and killed everyone around it with the splash, which i didn't know about until I saw all these guys die, hehe. The big guns don't work as well as I liked, but I liked the challenge of trying. And, to those I bought the guns from, thanks for making such awesome weapons available. I'll buy more.
