Thread: BEAM RIFLE!

The devs keep asking about pre-CB fixes that could be worked in to help curb the problems in PvP.
Most of what i am reading requires alot of reworking of skill trees, addition of new specials and the animations that go along with them blah blah blah.
I don't understand why this issue is not being pushed.
Give us back the cert for the beam rifle!
Nothing ...and i mean NOTHING has to be added or coded in except giving us back the darn certification for it. The weapon is IN the game...it HAS animations, We have specials we can use with it in the marksman tree! ITs craftable....which i am sure most Commando's know ....i own one myself!
Orginally i heard it was removed in beta because it was overbalancing in PvP...well i got news, the whole GCW and PvP in general is out of wack and moreso then ever Commando's need a bone here, we have NO rifle that is usuable by us, if they can't understand that then perhaps we should get a change just as Bounty hunters did...drop the pre-req of master marksman from the Commando profession.
Jeepers creepers!
I just don't understand why this can't be put in.
Have a master WS make a beam rifle with primo resources and good experimentation...get it sliced..you will see that it is comparable to most well made T21's...and it doesnt even have AP3...overbalancing my butt!....whats the real scoop here?

Fixing the HAR is easy, changing1 line of code. The one that gives the AP function for the weapon being used. I'm willing to bet thatbehind the scenesserverside is an equation compairing 2 values to determine the difference in Armor Piercing and Armor Values.
Gaining ONLY Beam Rifle certification will really onlyhelpyou, if you add Rifleman to your template (same boat we are in with the LP and Pistolleer). They have to add commando only specials with commando weapons to really change whats going on andthats a major overhaul IMHO.

The beam rifle looks like the HAR (and isn't the HAR cert called the acid beam rifle? Well, at least I think it was for a while...) so IMO they should get rid of the beam rifle schematic and just make the HAR function more like a rifle. It'd be easier to implement.
Not that I haven't said this before.
Probably right.
Well, I can't say I'd mind another weapon, but all that should have been done, long ago, in order to make the commando population reasonably complacent about the CURRENT state of the profession, is this: Fix grenade range and ham costs, make consumables easier to craft and, therefore, less expensive, and make the HAR a reasonably formidable weapon, even if it is only a FT clone.
That would have made many of us much more relaxed about the state of the profession. Then we'd be able to focus on more minor details of what we'd like to see the Commando become, instead of having to beg and plead that the developers at least repair what has been malfunctioning for so long.
Instead, we wait, dazed and babbling masses of Commandos, all with concussions and battle fatigue from our own grenades, crumpled corpses beaten and mocked at while lying in the street, laughed at by the pistoleer who just destroyed us, quite possibly with our own heavy pistol. Oh the shame, the shame.....

Having the HAR function like a Rifle, IMO, would not be a good move for us. What will happen is that it will be like the Launcher Pistol is today for Commandos. A Pistoleer/N.Commando 0000 is more effective than a Master Commando with his own weapon. What we would then have is Master Rifleman / N. Commando 0000 in regards to the Beam Rifle or HAR functioning like a rifle. Again, we would have a Rifleman a better user of our weapon than a Master Commando.
Let's just keep it as a heavy weapon but fix the stats on the HAR, i.e. AP 2 or 3.
