Thread: A question to Commando Carbineers...

I have a damage question for commando carbineers and Full Auto Area with an AoE weapon.

As I understand it, AoE splash damage is current messed up, with the AoE target's getting elemental +1 damage. But let's look at Carbineer's Full Auto Area attack. (I'm a Master Carbineer, but have no commando skills.)

For FAA, I target one MOB and fire. All targets ina 90 degree centered on my trget get teh full damage of the shot.

Let's say I used an AoE weapon and fire FAA. All target's would presumably take full damage from the weapon, but what about the splash damage. Would each Mob take splash damage from each mob that was within the AoE range?

Like if there are four targets positioned like this...

X X X X

{ 20m }

{ 8m }

And I target the highlighted X, would the two targets near it take full damage from the FAA, plus 2X AoE damage for the other two targets near enough to them? (this is assuming a 10 meter AoE range - I really have no idea, but it's just for arguements sake)

I'm just wondering if the the targets grouped to the right would take Full FAA damage + (2x AoE damage) from the one FAA attack....

hmm...

Heavy Weapon AOE overwrites the AOE from any special. Therefore if you use an AOE special with a Heavy Weapon, the primary target receives full damage and secondary targets receive elemental damage+1 ONLY! There is NO chain AOE. Also, if you fire an AOE special with a Heavy Weapon that does not produce an AOE (Rocket Launcher, Proton Rifle, etc...) the non-AOE of the Heavy weapon will overwrite the special's AOE and you will only get single target damage.

Right now, using a dedicated AoE attack (like full auto area) with ANY Commando weapon whether it has built in AoE (i.e. Plasma Flamer) or not (Proton Rifle) yields a bugged AoEdamage outputof:

100 percent damage to main target and 1 damage + elemental (if any) to secondary targets

So you're telling me that weapon AoE trumps attack AoE?

Yes.

Basically, the "heavy weapon" designation trumps attack AoE. Doesnt matter if the heavy weapon has innate AoE (flamer) or not (proton rifle).

Bug?

Intended?

We dont know. Noone will tell us.

1. Either up the dmg of heavy wepons (i.e rocket launcher....or allow craftable ones to be better)

OR

Extend dmg in AOE to equal initial dmg dealt to target

2. Un nerf grenades

3. If SOE insists on the brawler tree......compensate with more defences or give reason to pursuea brawler profession.

proton rifle does have an AOE......ie my famous 80m range area stopping shot and concussion shot with a proton rifle
