Someone can correct if im wrong since i never use PUPs but I believe Special Heavy Weapons (eg FT, or PFT) cannot use PUPs and heavy weapons can. However I think the launcher pistol is actually classified as a pistol and that may be why it worked on that so in that case no heavy weapon may be able use it. I dunno though, just my thoughts on it!

Any of the heavy Weapons that used to be consumables, such as the Rocket Launcher, etc. are now actually classified as Rifles as far as the game is concerned. Therefore, they can all take Powerups.
The Launcher Pistol has always been classified as a Pistol as far as the game is concerned, so it can take Powerups as well.
The "true" heavy weapons, such as the flamethrowers, are considered "Heavy Weapons" by the game, which means that they cannot accept Powerups.

I tried to put a SAC pup on a plasma thrower and an acid rifel but couldn't. But i could put it on the launcher pistol.
How does this work for commandos?
Thanks.

Yeah, all the old consumables converted into "rifles"
This is on our top issues list, by the way.
