Thread: Rocket Launchers... what are they good for?

I hope this doesn't sound like a silly question, I really want to know. My Commando character is on Corbantis and I tried to find some grenades and rocket launchers last night. Only grenades I found were C12 non-commando cert ones, and when I could even find rocket launchers they were 30-65k each for about 29 uses!
At 1k-2k per shot.... what do you use these things for? Are they that good? Can you really kill stuff good enough to make your money back by running missions with them? And if so what type of missions do you experienced commandos use them on?
My guess is maybe they are just a novelty weapon to use occassionally or maybe for some type of high end mob looking for loot?
Any experience you have on any type of expendable Commando weapon would be appreciated. I have several characters on different servers so I can experience all the different combat type professions. This one is dedicated to Commando and is currently 0-0-3-1 with some pistoleer, and smuggler 0-0-1-0 but not sure how I will finish spending points after Master Commando.
Last night I realized that I have enough xp to get novice BH and the first box of BH pistols and it occured to me that using BH pistols instead of pistoleer to compliment the Launcher pistol might be a good idea. (then I could set things on fire with the LP too 
)

only pakc of rockets ive foudn so far was 80k for a crae with 7 in (30 to the stack) i use thme on turrets during base raids (and on at-st's if needed) evne at this price tiher a very expensive option but they do take down the turrets increadibly fast in comparison to anyone else

I use em in high endPVE and PvP too (together with the HPBC). I pay 12.5k for the ASL/HLC and HPBC

I've been known to take out all the rebel NPCs on a mission without getting one shot fired at me with a Rocket launcher.

I was doing some PvP tonight defending a base. I decided to stick with rockets(4569 max damage) as my main weapon. I took some snow cake and fired off around 12 rockets during the battle. All 12 connected doing around 2400 damage a pop. The fight only lasted a few minutes, I think mostly due to my rockets.

Sadly, right now RLs are good for support in some situatons. Out of all of our expendable support weaponry, RL is one of our most effective...meaning accurate.
I've been on NightSister hunts where many love my RLs. I don't get many credits for my role, and it certainly doen not justify the credit loss...but the cheers are worth it to me. AND sometimes you can really shine dropping one on the right target!

If your still lookin for grenades i'll tell ya a few places in game where you can get some. As far as the rockets, i find that they are great against spice fiends, or whatever random low level npc is spawning on a given day in bestine. Other than that, cant find much else to do with 'em.

i love the rocket launchers they r great against nite sisters but they do about 5000-8000 blast damage and they r only hard hitting at 64m so u can only get about 2 shots off... i usually line one up and kapow! then as something gets close kd/dizzy leg it bak another fewe meters and launch another one...

Oh my I love RL's, especially in ranged PVP where it is least expected- there was a rifleman/CM we were targetting to get rid of first and she would strafe into range to shoot a few headshots or strafeshots and run out, I then waited until she came back in and fired off my 5K dmg RL and instantly incapped her and then one of my guys snipe shotted to deathblow her. I use them on Krayts, turrets, nightsisters and last resorts in PVP.

IF you can use em in range the HPBC are even better then RL, slighty lower damage, but they fire MUCH faster.
