Thread: What template is good against melee professions

Hi,

Someone mentioned that melee profs can get in close and hit heavy after knocking out our armor... any experience with this and what template is good for both ranged and melee fighting. I am currently mc/rifle 4/4/2/4 and working on finishing off rifle, however, perhaps carbineer or pistols would be a better all around template for both ranged and melee combat.

What do others think of this?

Thanks.

Intimidate is in Unarmed pre-req tree for brawler.

Snare is a type of "rooting" special you can get from another profession or from using one of the grenades (cryo I think.) Beware the grenade delay though.

Carbineer hands down. You can knock them down. You can lay states. You can+snare+ and +root+ them. You can kite thoseaxe weilding guys forever and they will NEVER get into melee range to hit you.

Gee, I sure thought it was. I'm not ingame to check, but that's where it used to be located. Checking the profession calculator (Kodan) it might not be there any longer. Sorry for the misinformation if it's wrong!

just watch their state icons in the corner really carfully just as the root is about to go snare them then try to apply the root again as fast as possible then do your damage.... rinse and repeat till the death blow.

ok, I'm master carb, master comando, what is the best states to lay on them, and what is with the timers? I can't get some of the best shots off with my pft? Is this a bug, or am I just not understanding this combat anymore? What combo's do you fellow comando/carb guys use? Throw me a bone here.

Im Master Com, Master Smug and some Pistoleer + the FS Defence Trees. I use Concussion shot to root, overwhelming shot to lower state resits, intim shot panic shot then body shot them till they drop reapplying the root and intim shot when i need to. With ranged proffs i use nades and low blow more to get KD's as this ruins their action pool when they use KD recovery.

Seems to work for me I have only lost against two Jedis and a BH so far although i dont seem to do as much dmg with body shot to them as they do to me with their dmg shots.

Still looking for a higher dmg special to go with my template. I tried Carbs but the defences and acc mods from pistoleer plus the cheaper cost makepistols a better a option.

So Master Carbineer or Pistols combined with Master Commando is the way to go. I had been grinding through rifle, but found that rifles is long range, commando is up close and personal. Does carbineer have a 65 m capable weapon for drawing one away at a time?

Thanks,
