The one good thing Commandos were good at, PVE, is gone. Great job SOE...guess I'll just sit at the bar afk like the rest of those ents do.

With this new NPC upgrade, those Cavemen on Dantooine beat the shat out of me. They're hitting me for hundreds of damage, full buffed, full composite. Do you want to know why? No melee defense. It's like going out to PVP right now, everywhere you go there's a TKM ready to KD Dizzy you then beat the shat out of you for piss poor melee.

The last vestige of the Commando was PVE, and that's gone. Why should I even keep the class now? I can't farm money anymore. I was in a group, outdamaged by everyone else. They took no damage in PVE and I was getting hammered...

I'll be at the bottom of a bottle at the Coronet Cantina if anyone needs me. *sigh*

Its a matter of setting up your template. If your a commando/smuggler then you wouldnt want to face up against melee fighters even if its PvE. You would want to fight the ranged kind. Im a Commando/CH to have the pets tank for me while i stand back and use flame cone. And its really pretty impressive for PvE. I can wipe out Jantas and Mokks like their going out of style with my Light armored 60 kinectic Frankengurreck.

if this is all implemented they keep changing the face of this game and acting like we are nothing but a pimple apon it poping us till we get smaller and smaller untill we are nothing more then a small crator or a remembrance of what was untill we fade away to nothingness.

Yeah that's great and all...but then tell me why every other class can tank five kungas at once and then take out the nest no problem? Commando is one of the most expensive classes to receive, for the least ammount of gain, sucks at pvp, and now can't even hold its own in pve.

Sounds like a great plan SOE, glad everyone else is enjoying it.

But they have 3 wepons that they can actualy use as viable wepons

OK i've said this before and i'll say it again. Each class has its place. Commando has some benefits but needs a lot of loving. Starting with adding AP to all of our weapons in come capacity. Getting rid of the changing weapon timers. Things like that. But, as i said to Skeptic, if your not happy. There are 32 other professions to try out. TKM and Rifle are grossly overpowered. TK has the limitation of 7m range. As an ex TKM/Master Ranger. Believe me you feel it if you dont have a marksman profession to follow it up with. Smuggler has huge limitations as a combat class. Rifle is still widly out of whack due to its cap of 1 second and not at least 3. Even pistoleer, fencer get AP1 weapons at novice that we don't. But you have to work with what you've got. Im getting around it by staying a CH and letting the pet keep me ranged. When i get a buff i get my pets secondaries done and i dont have to heal it as much either. You have it go in tag all of the mokks, jantas, kungas ect. Sit and and AoE them to death. It really works well. Should commando be the damage king? Of course we should. We should be slow walking tanks armed to the teeth and wearing a stupid smile while we do it. But we arent. Now the devs are slowly putting fixes in that no one sees coming. See the changes to CM and now to Doc for this. So theres nothing that says they wont add a hot fix or two here or there to fix some of the broken stuff. Like our grenades hurting us.


But maybe its your tactics. Standing there and letting them hit you is not the way to fight in this class. Movement and kiting is. You suffer huge to hit penalties that add on to our already miserable speed. But you wont get hit as much. And when you do land that shot. You will hit for big points.


Work with what you've got. Make constructive posts about what you want to see. And try out other classes to see if the grass is greener on the other side.

That is exactly what I do, I run from one end of the statue to the other drawing them in the fire of cone2. I do the same damage as I've done before, but now there is no way for me to take the hits that was required to do this.

I'm thinking it might be time to whip out Commando/TKM to combat this.

Hehhe. No Im not happy with COmmando in its current state. ANd I have been a commando for over 8 months. This is who I am. They keep changing it on me widdling it down to the play thing of a child. Nothing else looks good to me right now. would you rather me try to be a afk dancer? I THINK NOT!!!!

OK i've said this before and i'll say it again. Each class has its place.






Unfortunately, atm we don't have one.


[Getting on topic to poster now] Even with buffs/armour as just simply a commando is pure suicide...best bet is to pick up the TKA defenses or Pistoleer defenses (and techniques too) for Melee...and heck, with TKA...even ranged defenses.


The one thing tho that irks me, we have the lowest DPS and the 2nd (or 3rd....not exactly sure on smuggler defenses)lowest in terms of overal defenses (for once I feel pity for BH's) lowest defenses of combat professions [overall mind you]


Yet, we are one of 2 most skill point intensive professions in the game. Ironic, no? Our only disadvantage which benefits groups and ourselves is our DoT, and ability to stack it. Thats it...and we dont even get looting rights (or xp I dont believe) for it.


I can understand some lack of defenses (BH/Smuggler/Commando really need counters or toughness of their own...thats the major lack of defenses I see for us...we cant take a beating) if we had uber DPS...but sadly, Riflemen....TKMs....Swordmen....Carbineers...even pistoleers in some cases all out damage us, and usually by alot in PvE (where we're suppoused to "shine")...they all have a decent amount or a high amount of defenses....and all for 92 SP (Point: Its more beneficial getting some other class than Commando atm....as we don't really have a purpose in current state of affairs - save our DoT which is ONLY good against big mobs with tough resists)


And on an unrelated note...carbineers and pistoleers like to whine they're totally and utterly broken. I think not, the major thing wrong with both professions are their specials....most dont work as intended (ie Disarming shot doesnt Disarm, crippling shot doesnt cripple....yet crippling shot is VERY powerful damage wise). Ill grant them that, as well as many specials are just redundant (strongly agree)....but they are no where near broken. Heh if they can outdamage us, they ain't broken...

Yep, the one thing we were good at which was PVE is so freakin gone it might as well not even existed. There is no way for a pure Commando to exist in the world, and that is complete bullshat. In the end I dropped most of smuggler, killed my medic, and picked up TKN just a few mins ago. Hopefully this will provide me with the defenses I need to survive now.

There is no way for a pure Commando to exist in the world






For 8 months I stayed as a pure commando, and didn't even use Buffs/Armour....


Now that, that was rough....even with buffs occassionally later on it was rough..then finally armoured up and got TKA defenses....


Even now using TKA defenses and just buffs (no armour) is rough, mainly due to the lack of defenses (loose my +53 toughness..and not sure if Defense Acuity still would work)
