Thread: Weapons to Shop For?

Sup all, new to the Commando Prof, just wondering what weapons are a must-have for a master, and what stats to look for (cuz i came back to the game after the CU, no idea what weapons are the best)

I'd say that you'll want a Plasma Flamethrower and a Lightning Beam Cannon for sure. The PFT is a tight wedge AoE, and the LBC arcs to a radius around the designated target. Keep in mind that right now, stuff other than the target that gets hit in the AoE takes 1 damage due to a bug. This means that most of our weapons are more like "agro generators" rather than valid area damage dealers currently -- but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this issue may be linked to the elemental damage fixes going in soon.

At master, the other weapons are generally only useful for the states they cause. The Acid Stream Launcher blinds and has a range of 65m (but can blind you too if you fire at close range), and the Rocket Launcher has a fun KD capability. The much-discussed proton rifle is (we think) supposed to be our high damage, single target weapon, but right now it won't fire at all (and is hard to get, being a random loot item from a high end boss).

I don't have stats ranges on hand, but you could get a good idea by browsing vendor locations on your entire galaxy from a bazaar terminal, and checking the values.

I think it is pretty fun to be a commando right now, but we're in a pretty sad state of being fairly broken/unbalanced. A big chunk of that problem stems from the fact that our "weapons are our specials" as the devs say, and if we were going to be a true 5 stars in offense capability as a single-combat master commando, it would potentially put us over the top to stack high damage specials from other professions onto high base damage. Hopefully the devs will figure something out for us soon.

Keep in mind that the key to the commando's success on the battlefield is having a large array of weaponry with which to deal a wide selection of state effects on your enemies. so what i would recomend is get one of each weapon type.


this also serves to be prepared for any upcomming fixes. right now the flame thrower may be the only commando weapon that really works properly, but upon the repair of elemental damage, our arsonal will take on a much more effective role on the battlefield.
