Personal preferences and tip on either.
I'm rather fond of them both and switch often though I've just recently discovered the ability to place Pups on the LBC. Action pup makes for alotta specials and the 40m range has me starting to favor the LBC. Just curious why the flamer refuses a pup *ponder*

It's because the LBC is catagorized as a rifle by the game, and the PFT is labled a special heavy weapon. For some reason, you still can't power up heavy weapons.

The key is situational awareness. Don't use the flamer if there are mobs within about 30m in front of you that may aggro. Make sure there is a clear area behind your mob. Be aware of the ranges of your weapons. The LBC is a 6m circle AOE around your target. The PFT is a 25m long ~35-45 degree cone centered on the line between you and your target. The Acid Streamer is a 65m long ~25-35 degree wide cone centered on the line between you and your target. The Rocket launcher is a 6m circle AOE around your target. Grenades are instant death...for the thrower. Every weapon has a purpose, although they may not be useful.

So thats why Pups work on some of our weapons rather than all...
Folks, some of the HW's including the RL (pretty much all the old ones that were consumables) are under the rifles catagory for a weaponsmith in crafting them.
Only the original FT/HAR are under the HW i think...but most of our weapons, for weaponsmiths, are listed under rifles for some odd reason.

Just verified it on live at least. PFT/FT/HAR are the only special heavy weapons left.... are they so special? Are they heavy weapons that do light damage... time will tell.

No, I think. Because when you use these weapons on your character sheet it says Accuracy with Heavy Weapon and what not....

The ones that used to be "Heavy Weapons" could be i thought?
Like the RL, the LBC and the ASL
But the "Special Heavy Weapons" can not be Pu-Ped
Any way, i use my PFT for damage dealing and my ASL for the range. Since the ASL has the 65 range and the blind it makes a good "Keep em distracted till this bloody root runs off so i can get within 25m from him" weapon ![]()
I just use Disarming Shot if they got me rooted at a distance, then once im un rooted throw a root and or KD on them and get all up in there face with some nice hot plazma ![]()

Yeah, it's kinda wierd. They use the mods for HW, yet they seem to be catagorized as rifles.

Yeah, apparently PUPs and SEAs are on two seperate systems.
Any catagory weapon can be changed to another...why the proton rifle and all our HW take Heavy Weapon Mods...and use HW SEAs
But apparently PUPs that don't work on HW, work on the HW that are catagorized under one of the standard combat catagories...
Very weird
