I have seen alot of ppl saying that commando weapons dont fin in groups. I have found a tactic that makes grinding with AoE weapons better for groups.
What you need to do is to have the group member with the longest range pull one creature.(you need to be hunting non-agro creaturs for this to work) Once the creature is far enough away from the heard, have someone with a root shot root it. After that, let loose with your flammer, lighning cannon or rocket launcher without having to worry about agro from the whole mob.
Hope this helps some ppl out.

This works however you need coodination to pull this one off. I have found that the heavy weapons coupled with a root or a snare are nice. Sure you agro everything there but if you do it right you can outrun them

Well that's a great tactic, and it may work in the right situatiion, but it ignores the design of an "area" effect weapon. The proper use of any weapon is self-evident in the function of it's design. In our case, most all of our weapons are "area effect" because in a common sense universe, this would allow us to, well, effect an area containing several targets instead of just one target. Take this scenario for example: A squad of troopers diving for cover into the same trench, or better yet, sentries in the corridors of a base, where spaces are compacted and ranges are closer. in cases like this, you use short range, area effect weapnry such as grenades and the LP...bujt that's not how it works in SWG. I'll be damned if the AI updates didn't make our AOE weapons useless in the guise of giving us something better. Why? This is a trick used in old gambling houses, which the psychology of this game is largely based on. In an open field, use an AEO weapon, and you will be mobbed and completely surrounded. The same is true of NPC's carrying ranged weapons. It's amazing how they spawn in a neat "star" pattern at distinct intervals of distance all around you, just outside the area of effect, so you still only effect one target. Area of Effect? No, not really, just smoke and mirrors again.
