Well, I thought I'd post my thoughts on Commando here.

I've been leveling up for about 3 weeks now, I'm currently 3/3/4/2 and aiming for my mastery, while marching up the flamer tree I honestly thought that I was going to stay as a commando and sod the Holo's to damnation.

FIrst of all let me say I'm not a 'holo grinder' I DO use the holo's but this is because I was enjoying the game a lot and I just couldn't decide what I wanted to do to compliment my Master Artisan status, so I used a holo, it said commando and here I am. Playing the profession, not grinding!

Again the first two weeks of my profession were great, I enjoyed soloing imperial encampments and checking out FlameSingle1 and FlameCone before marvelling at the power of FlameSingle2, I've generally passed over the HAR as I can do more damage to rancors with my 'normal' flamer shots than I do with my Acid specials, I've enjoyed a little PVP, something I don't participate in often but hey, I get killed a lot by people that have "Teris Kasi Novice" over their heads but that's by the bye, it's been fun so no problems there.

But recently cracks have appeared in my enjoyment, I really enjoy hunting in big groups, taking on Squills, Krayts, Rancors and the like, but recently on a mission I was 'told off' for using my flamer specials, I comprimised, I said "hey, I won't use them unless I get in trouble" and stayed on the hunt, I then got accused of using my specials and stealing everyone's XP whenever I killed anything, from a Nuna to a Squill. Got a bit of payback though as I managed to tank my way thorugh a squill lair without using my specials before realising the rest of my group were all incapped bar me and surrounded by loads more squills that had spawned behind us....

"Can I use my specials now" I asked, "Or shall I wait until you all get up and get incapped two more times?" then I left.

I then retreated from the big group hunts and started going out with my PA more, but the last night we were hunting Rancors on dath when one of the members (Wasn't a PA member, but WAS a member in waiting)complained about my Flamer. I wouldn't have minded but the guy then demands to have all the Xp from lairs,Xp from healingand wants to loot everything and sell it on, so he makes a big profit while I have to make do with lame Acid Xp. Now that's the end of it for me, I'm going to master commando then dump it, I really enjoy picking out a single target, helping other players and enjoying my gaming experience but since I'm getting no love from PLAYERS or DEVELOPERS I don't see the point of continuing, I had a lot of fun when starting out but now.... there's just no point.

I can solo my way through most theme parks and missions in the game, but I like playing nicely with others, even though it get's thrown back in my face.

I could probably accpet it all if everything worked nicely, but I get a lot more love with my Artisan tag over my head than I do as A commando. Oh yeah, it's fine when someone needs help clearing something, or wants to group with me so they can loot off corpses but as soon as that big group gathers forget it! I have no place.

I am sorry but what did you expect?

At your level you will always get way more XP from creatures then anyone else hence the complaining. If I were on a hunt and someone tokeout every creature with 2-3 shoots I would also disband or ask them kindly what they were doing. I only grouped TKA to a certain level before going solo. Solo is also way faster and with Commando I am not even going to group.

If you want to have fun while going on hunts with others, then make smaller groups or find someone who hunts for more then just XP.

However; the guy you were hunting with (soon to be PA member) is going overboard. For players like that there is only on cure /duel hehe.

I go through the same and I'm still a flat novice (close to flame1 though)and people hate me for no reason. Even when I use my launcher pistol people complain. I dont do anything and people complain but I am not strong enough to beat them in a duel......................yet

Koru, I have always gone out of my way to pick up targets not being taken out by others, or helping when other members of the party are in trouble. Still I get flamed for it. I don't kill every creature, in general if it's being handled by other players I'll leave alone and I'll let someone else take out the lairs. is that unreasonable of me?

I 'make' rules like using nothing but my 'basic' shot and not using my specials and still get flamed for it.

I can't use a flamer, while TKM's kick the heck out of everything without anyone complaining.

I don't get in anyone's face with it, I just want, like everyone else, to enjoy myself, which is becoming increasingly difficult.

I posted this in order to give people an idea what a 'casual' rather than Uber gamer made of the profession. Not to get grief about it. I don't ninja loot or ninja DB (much more annoying) or grief anyone about making all the camps or med experience.

And yes, I'll be changing my profession.

I made novice commando 4 days ago and i am 2 2 4 2 in the tree.

Last night i was hunting quenkers when some guy asked me if he could group with me. I told him that i was doing solo but he still wanted to. So i let him join and i destroyed everthing. I think he finally got the idea that i wanted be solo so he left.

Interesting problem. I have to opposite with Pistoleer. I can do alot of interesting things to a target, but generally, a commando or TKA kills it. I don't care.

I think you ran into some bad, overly competitive whiners. Depending on your strength in the group, you can either split, or tell them "I yam what I yam..." and soldier on. Tell them to lump it, essentially, that you are not going to risk getting incapped or dead so that they can loot and sell all, or pander to them so they get XP.

You are the killer, the dealer in massive damage, the rocketman firegod. The TKA or CH is the tank. The CM is the healer, and the Doc is the rezzer, the pistol guys and carbineers are traffic control, and that's the way it is. A well oiled team needs you, and when they find you, it will work well.

LMAO....sorry, bro, I don't mean to laugh at your plight, but would you listen to yourself? You're all "I'm gonna quit commando because ppl are jealous of the damageI do" LOL. Who are they to you? I've found that as a commando I don't get asked to group much, but there are times when ppl are BEGGING me to group, because they're going against Nightsisters or some such uber MOB, or they're gonna burn a reb base. That's completely ok with me. Oh, and ppl are right about a master commando not being as good as other masters in PvP (makes alot of sense, doesn't it?) BUT I wonder if these ppl realize that you can make commando a killer PvP class if you combine them with certain other skills. But truth to tell, it's not the template that makes you good in PvP, it's how you use it.

Anyway, after you get your commando, give it up, and grind another holo guy. But, do you really think a jedi won't be hated on for xp stealing? LOL

I dont see what makes commando such an xp stealer in big groups. TKA does the same thing and noone complains, or at least I have yet to hear any complaints.

Im trying to level pistoleer on testcenter, and all the groups ive gone to the squill cave with have had some form of TKA in it. Well, before I can get off 3 shots, the TKA has the squill on the ground and precedes to kill it in several hits. Im left with a pultry 300-500 xp while the TKA claims he is getting upwars of 3k-5k xp.

lol ive had this too, im a tka/commando not high in either proffesion, i think tka 3243 and commando 1010 when i use my flamer i get told off for as you say "stealing exp" now i think ive got a nice flamer but from rancors i was getting 1.5k ish exp. so i say mkay i'll use tka and tank a while. now i was spanking the hell out of these rancors with a full time medic assigned to me. spamming knockdown warcry till they fell then spamming unarmed hit 2

omg! i was getting 4.5k exp easy! erm and not a single complaint about exp stealing.... am i missing something? lol seems people just wanna give us commandos grief for some reason :/ though i do feel guilty when i use me launcher pistol, and all people stop moving for a few seconds hehe

Ive had very much the same experience, having only started the commando tree 2 days ago i am already sick of the abuse. Mostly people complaining about explosions, which led to me getting kicked from the group without even being give the option of changing wepon, or fiting style (not that i would have).Ive also found, that when i attack a traget with the group, im told to pik my own targets and leave theirs well alone (not that i mind i would rather do that, better xp) but as soon as the %^$& hits the fan, guess who their shouting for, to help. Its about ime we got given a break for doing a proffession that seems to be largely un appreciated.

this is the reason i only solo. the only person i group with is a master doctor/master dancer inmy PA. anyone else whines to much. even the rifle men that do more damage and get more xp than me. go figure.

Burn 'em all.... they are just jealous of the massive damage we can do... tell them to grow up if they don't like it. life isn't always fair.
