Thread: I'll take some flames for this, but...
I don't play a Commando. I'm a victim of one, though. I personally think that flame thrower needs to be nerfed, OR revenge flags removed, OR insurance reimplemented. Last night, I was minding my own business in a town, whenTWO opposing commandos came and attacked. I pulled out a certain 18800 ham spet, popped a dose of Muon Gold, and proceeded to defend my home town. The commandos were dispatched several times, but each time, used their TEF flag to hit my...pet...with some sort of flame attack that caused it to take over 2000 points of burn damage every 10-12 seconds. I died right before the muon gold ended, so it was about 10 minutes. At the end of my single life, I had sustained over 700 health wounds and lost my...large pet... Now, I understand that many of you don't like this certain pet, but... My point is that TWO players should not have been able to destroy what took me several full days of playing to obtain in under 10 minutes, with no effort. The problem I see is that they were able to use their revenge flags to respawn not 100 yards away, and just repeatedly suicide attack me and my pet, without any way for me to oppose. With revenge flags, they'd be able to attack indefinately, and without losing items on death, which insurance could have easily fixed, there was no reason for them to quick the onslaught. I probably asked for it by bringing this...pet...out, but still... Should a pair of commandos who possibly only had flamethrower 1 be able to undo that much work so easily? The second I got within 65 m of them, I was done for. No way that flamethrowers should have the same range as my pistols, and there is CERTAINLY no way they should be able to cause that much damage through wounds/existing flames...
Doesn't take it for a swim to put the fire out. Just lets it burn.
Sad sad sad.
I can just hear it crying...BIGJIM burning
Yep, Commandos are overpowered because no one knows what they can do or how to stop them.
Gee, this is what...the 100th post today on this subject?
Jeez...I leave out one tiny detail and the attacks begin.
I forgot to mention that when my 'pet' got set on fire, I was incap'd, and could do NOTHING, and my opponents chose not to DB me. I had to wait 110 seconds to get back up after EACH incap. How can I get to the water if I can't even react, pal?
AND, furthermore, suppose I was on Tatooine? I guess I should just be totally SOL against a commando with a flame thrower...
Balance? Seems to be working pefectly to me!
Your pet died as a result of the revenge TEF, which the Devs have decided not to fix despite innumerable complaints. Don't cry nerf because two lamers exploit the TEF to kill your hapless pet. If those players had been Bounty Hunters using LLCs, I gaurantee you would have gone straight to the BH boards and started a "Nerf the LLC, it killed my uBeR 1337 pet!" post.
Commando weapons are FINE the way they are. Just because you are dumb enough or unlucky enough to get owned that easily doesn't mean we need to be nerfed.
Wear some nicearmor and you won't get 1 shotted all the time. The Flame Thrower is AP0. Try actually MAKING friends and have a doc buff your stats when you PvP. Use Food to buff your stats. Use Spices maybe. LEARN THE GAME. There's NO WAY a Commando will 1 shot you if you are buffed and wear armor - unless you're a rifleman, which is BUGGED and WILL get fixed. Simply wearing armor alone makes a WORLD of difference. Don't get within 16m. If you're "not sure" if it's a Commando, DON'T FRIGGEN GET WITHIN 16m PERIOD! Gah, is it THAT hard?! Ever heard of kiting?
Use Tactics.
Stop whining.
A grand wrix is 100% heat resistant. And AR1 to boot. You could have it AND your AT-ST out, if you wanted.
One part of this story is encouraging though. When i get to Flame I, i'll actually be able to hit something instead of missing all the time ![]()
All these posts telling the guy to learn the game are ridiculous, I know the game as well as anyone CAN know it, considering I've mastered Pistoleer, Creature Handler, gotten BH Pistol 4, Smuggler DF 4, Commando Flame 4... And here's my definitive answer:looking for water is the most lame excuse for a tactic anyone's ever tried to pass off as a reason to avoid anerf.
Tatooine is a major planet that has no water, other planets have cities that are far from water...really, there's no way a single player should be able to destroy 9500-28000+ faction point pets that takedays to acquire, and soon won't even be useful in PvE.
Oh, on another note, having 100% heat resistant mobs don't help in the slightest, the dot does damage that IGNORES RESISTS, if it didn't, then the AT-ST wouldn't be taking 2k damage a tick, considering it has AR 3 and 70% Heat resist. Any armortactic for players is similarly flawed, you might not get incapped instantly when you get hit by a special, but the dot WILL get you sooner rather than later, and leave you with a black healthbar afterwards. Hell as a Flamethrower specialist, I use Flamesingle 1 ON PURPOSE instead of Flamesingle 2 because it causes more wounds.
The only solution: fix AT-STs to have immunity to fire dots, just like their immunity to bleeds. The Flamethrower's advantages vs. people are well deserved, it is after all, an anti-personnel weapon. Revenge TEF would be a nice fix too, but it's notcentral to the Flamethrower's power in PvE and PvP.
ok, so your pet was incapped? was it killed? i didn't know they put perma death back to pets. if not, then its vitality just went down a bit. wanna know how to save your pet? recall it. oh, you have to wait 30 seconds to recall it? take a shuttle. darn, its not gonna be back for 10 minutes? then you truely are stuck. but once you store a pet, all bleeds/poisons/other status effect magically disappear.
yes, you were incapped, so you couldn't interact with your pet. some say that CH's shouldn't be able to control such pets. oh, you wanna take away our big guns, but not your big pets? so one CH is supposed to take out 2 commandos? also, when the CH is incapped, the pets still attack. so sometimes its a little hard to run and incap the handler when the pets are still attacking. especially when the pets are 100m away from the CH because all he does is sit somewhere safe while he lets his pets do the work. i'm not saying that was the case here, but i've had enough grauls, gurreks, rancors sicked on me to know that it does happen. CH's have the best range in the game. all you need to do is target the person, and you can sick your pet on it. so i have no regrets for taking out someone's pet. i'm a CH as well. i use my pets to take out imperials from a great distance. they get incapped. they lose vitality. oh well, i'll just go out and find another if it gets too low.
