i have a high speed/lower dmg and slow spd/higher dmg FTs i use both, but im partial to the high dmg, it has i believe 5.1 spd i think, up to 1104dmg and ihave hit npcs for 10k fs2, most ive hit a player with it is hair over 2k, im into big dmg, if i get in the mood i use my 3.2 spd FT but just isnt the same as hitting for 7-10k (on specials), love seeing the big numbers roll, and when the timer on the specials is gone it hits pretty quick still, dont really miss all that often hitting anywhere avg from 900ish up to just over 2k on reg non special hits.

no im not either novice or master but i think i earned my 2credits = )

i carry 2 FT's one is high speed low damg the other is high damg low speed, I only use the High speed low dmg in pvp because the cooldown is much faster and it's important for me to swich to other weapons fast and try different attacks incase that first dot misses or doesn't incap.

I think its best if you are a novice to get a speed sliced flamethrower. Think about it, at novice or anything below master you miss a lot, so its best if you can get a DoT on your target. Doesn't matter what the damage is as long as you get more hits and chances to land hte DoT. However, at master the accuracy is great and damage is what we like. So there are my suggestions for you commandos that need help when it comes to the proper flamethrower.

Speed counts for everything below master

Damage counts when you are master

I've only ever had my 3.2 sec speed sliced FT, I like it. I think speed is more important than damage.

I went for high damage for a long timebut recently I got a 2.7 spd flamer and I won't go back to dmg again. It's amazing how fast the specials fly and my normal shots are under 2 seconds as well.

For PvE you want speed, no question about it. The power of the flamethrower lies in the DoTs. The greater the speed, the quicker you can stack those bad boys.

You can make a case for either in PvP, but I'd still go with speed. You will miss so often in PvP that it's important to get in as many shots as possible. As far as the damage slice increasing your ability to oneshot people, I find that a speed sliced FT will oneshot most unbuffed unarmored opponents, while a damaged sliced one still won't help you against armored, buffed opponents. Again, it comes down to the DoT.

I have two FTs. One with a 22% speed slice and one with a 30% damage slice. Despite the superior slice, the damage one sees nothing but closet.

I have both, but I use my speed more.

at novice i used a 3.0, so i guess speed. Now that I'm master i prefer my slower, yet higher damage flamethower.
