Thread: Flamethrower and Enraged Rancor bug?
I reported this as a bug today, but wanted to mention it in here just in case anyone else had seen this.
(and before you flame me, yes, I did a search, didn't find anything)
For thelast two days, if I use my Flamethrower when fighting an Enraged Rancor, I get NO experience. I'm not talking flame specials here, I'm talking JUST hitting the attack button and firing until it's dead.
If I fight a Bull Rancor, I get Heavy Weapons XP, if I fight anything else, Heavy Weapons XP, but if I fight an Enraged Rancor, no matter how many times I hit it, NO XP.
Anyone else seen this?
I'm not capped on HW XP. I'm certainly NOT tougher than an Enraged Rancor. If I switch to, say, my acid rifle and shoot it instead, I'll get HW XP. It's ONLY with the Flamethrower that I don't get XP, and ONLY on the Enraged Rancors (that I've noticed so far).
You are not tougher, but a bug in the game might think you are when you equip the FT...that's what I was getting at...but then again, if that was the case, you would get 1xp pt, not no xp...if you are getting no xp and you are not capped, then you right, there is a definite bug...if you are getting 1xp, the bug is on the Creature NPC not being leveled right as compared to the FT's power...
If it has 100% heat resistance, then to the game all heat weapons arn't doing any damage against it. You'll have to pull out your launcher pistol or acid rifle and pop it at least once to get XP in this case.
Strange, but I'm pretty sure this is the problem.
That is because flame DOT damage is not calculated into your xp. Thats why I fight enraged bull lairs to get my pistol XP for pistol xp.
Since they are 100% heat resistant, using Flame Thrower will get you 0xp. Hit flame single 2, flamesingle 1, switch to DX2, healtshot1, healthshot2, intimidate, pistol whip, warcry, stopping shot till dead. 5k pistol xp and 0 hw xp. (hit the cap for hw xp anyways).
Are you getting 0 xp or are you getting exactly 1 xp point? There is actually a huge difference...
0 xp means 1 of 2 things...either you've maxed out your xp currently or there is a bug...
1xp means that the game feels this creature is below you and you should be taking on harder creatures...basically it sounds like the creature has been catagorized wrong...

2 the thing is 100% heat resist and even if you are killing it the sytm is counting that you did no dam fix pull out lp and hit it 1 to 2 times then finish it with the FT
let me add to that...XP level can be dependent on weapon held...if I attack a group of Kaduus with my FT I will get 1 xp point for everone of them I kill...If I arm my pistol and kill them I will get the full xp per kill...all do to my player level with that specificweapon...
Could this be the case?

According to SWGCreatures.com, Enraged Rancors have 100% Heat resistance. But that'ssilly cause I can visually SEE it's HAM dropping when I shoot it. If I'm doing damage, shouldn't I get XP regardless of the mobs resists?

just start the fight with the lp hit it 1 to 2times then swich to flamer and you will get full xp

Yeah, I've killed things with 100% resist. My friend was really happy, he kept getting 3k+ xp for shooting the thing twice.
Can't be a bug, as I've killed em, and got the xp. One of the two things ^ is occuring.
