I don't know what the defenses are like for rifleman but they're definetly flavor of the month in PvP and since we can master that along w/ commando it's not a bad route to go. Just make sure you find yourself a real nice Jawa Ion rifle

What is a good combination for a commando with another profession? I thought Master Commando with a little Creature handler would be good but I hear it is a waste of time now.

I personally am TKM along w/ master commando. This is a great PvE combination with great defenses and the ability to heal/buff yourself. I do quite well in PvP with this setup as it's pretty varied and lets me go ranged or melee pretty well.

If you're looking for more of a PvP setup, picking up pistoleer or smuggler wouldn't be a terrible idea. This lets you snag a real nice launcher pistol and tear people up w/ those specials at any range w/ great dmg. Pistoleer also has some good defenses whereas smuggler has some good stuff I believe but not 100%. Smuggler just has other benefits, especially financially.

I was also under the impression that CH were useless now especially in PvP but I've found that they can still be useful when done right. I raided a reb town the other day attacking a base w/ 2 friends (a low level commando and a mch/mdoc). The doc buffed his gurreck and was able to hang w/ me for the 45 mins I spent harrassing about 5 guys (they would spawn and continuously rush me for a total of about 16 or 17 dbs from me alone). The MCH deffinetly helped me being able to stay out htat long. Granted those guys weren't dedicated PvPers as it would have been much tougher but it was definitely useful. Now with the new CL dispersal between all the branches I don't know how high of creatures you can get w/ the SP's left over after the master commando.

Hope this was somewhat helpful

Thanks for the input man, but I'm going heavily on my weapons. What would make my character uber in the PvP and the regular hunts?

if your looking to make yourself combat effective, Commando can master any profession that was already started by the Commando Pre-reqs. i.e. rifleman, pistoleer, carboneer, TKA, Smuggler. the way most of the professions have been redone, it really helps to master them to get all their particular advantages.

I myself am MC, MS and novice medic. In my own opinion, MC/TKM is the best PVP combination, afording both ranged and melee mitigation.

Smuggler is a great form of secondary income (slicing/drugs) that also allows you to slice your own weapons and equipment. I find it really helpfull to be able to buy my heavy weapons and grenades in crates and pull them out as needed, slicing them when ever i pop a new one out. Take that HPBC from 7 to 4-5 seconds makes a BIG difference. The combat effectiveness of smuggler is saddly lacking with no skill mods for acruacy, your just using Pistol 4. If you dont take another novice, you'll have 19+/- points left to dabble up Pistoleer if you like for some acruacy or defense.

The only really good weapons specials in smuggler is Panic shot. Using terrain properly, i can sucessfully delay an ATST (dunno if thats very acruate or not...), run up and DoT it twice, and run away. Let it tick then repeat the process. Spamming Lowblow/panicshot/lastditch (in that order) with the LP is very effective at wacking an ATST from range (last ditch being the power shot of the profession, approx 700-1500 points against an ATST). But as i said the acruacy is really stinky with just a MS/MC combination.
