You'd get the unarmed line in brawler. For apprentice exp you can either retrain a friends a bunch of times if they have excees exp in an unused skill, or you can do the annoying (yet often neccesary) starport shouting/camping where you train everyone in sight.

To be honest though, you might want to explore a few other professions before trying out commando, as we're sort of in an intermediary balancing phase and have some rather large issues to deal with.

First let me say that this is my 4th day of playing SWG. When the game was released I had a firm "never play a SOE game ever again," attitude. However, I have read a lot of interesting posts about SWG and decided to give it a shot. So far I have enjoyed my time in SWG. The game system is a bit different from what I am used to though.

When I played the tutorial I decided to make a marksman as I went through the tutorial I saw the commando as one of the classes that a marksman can join, an advanced profession I think they called it. The first thing that came to mind on looking at the commando's skill set was, "this looks pretty cool big guns and fire sound like fun ." Any way here is my question and I would appreciate any help. I am at 3,3,3,2 in marksman what do I do next, after I master marksman? Also as a follow up question how do I get apprenticeship points?

Well, as was stated you will need the unarmed line, plus the 40k combat xp.

If you are soloing, at this point if you can find them Feral Bantha's are great. Group yourself with a cheap pet like a mouse droid for an xp bonus, find a good spawn of ferals, and you should be able to kill them before they know you are there. With a laser rifle you'll be able to 1 shot them at your level a fair amount of the time. A laser carbine spamming legshot 2 should be able to get them in 3 or 4 hits, the pistol may be problematic though, but pistol rocks at plenty of other stuff, so you shouldn't have a problem. (Grouped with anything the feral banthas should give ya about 1k xp per kill). Only downside is that Feral banthas can be hard to find sometimes.

Unarmed is a bit tougher to grind out IMHO, and I have not found a really good way to do that.

I have been soloing out of Corenet city, the capitol of corelia. I assume the banthas are on tatooine?

I have been xping unarmed on lairs after I kill off all the mobs I then walk upto the lair and bash on it for ~5 minutes at 40 damage a shot to beat it down, there has to be a better way to do that . Forgive my newbness, but how do I get a droid to group with me. I assume that I buy one off a droid engineer or the bazaar, but how does the grouping dynamic work is it like a pet?

A couple of other questions I have had about the commando class are. Is it worth the skill cost to pick up some of the medic line? Additionally should I pick up some of the pistoleer line as well for the launcher pistol? And finally are my tactics what I should be using: typical lair hunt move into max range hit one pull it out usually kill it before it gets to em, if its going to be close use threatening shot to move it away, rinse and repeat on all the visible mobs then shot the lair once to generate the hidden mobs gun them down, move in and beat the lair down by hand to up unarmed, now at unarmed 1.5 man thats slow .

IMHO its easier to finish marksman, then concentrating on the unarmed by useing macros etc.

after marks, one way is find what planet has the highest quality scaly hide or insect meat, then spend time killing the butterflies in the spawn area'soutside the starportsthere, and harvesting the hide/meat - this way you gain some cash too. then when you want to go to sleep, make an AFK bralwer macro (something like target outward, follow, attack, pause, go back to begining) you can find macros all over the place.

regardng ap xp: every time i would pass through cornet or theed, i would pause for about 5 minuts and look for people asking for training. i am atm maxed out with ap xp @ 1240. (after i got master marks)i have trained people all over the place near every starport, just by paying attention. dont wait to get ap xp to the end when you need it

if you like to solo definatly get at least novice medic, then find some good stim b's. i like medic andi am 2244 but i will have to start letting it go as i get higher up the comando tree. (well cause i have noviceCH also)

i was told to get pistoleer for the begining phase of comando leveling with the LP. you have to get 40K combat xp anyway and that is 400k weapon xp so after you master marks, you shoud get itin pistol then alsoget pistoleer.i did this and it helped, but unless you will spen time going further up the pitoleer treei am not too sure its worth it. it might take a bit longer to reach flame II where you are ok with the flamer though.

you can buy a simple lvl 10 pet too and group with that. he can be a tank for you if you need one. if you group witht a droid, leave it somwhere safe couse you cant heal it if it dies. i use pets extensivly while soloing, and get some pet stims (no medic needed) to heal him. if you find a BE willing to sell you a strong lvl 10 pet even better. when you group with something / someone you get higher xp. i do not knoew the exact stats on that myself.
