I've just read the Dev interview with Kurt Thunderheart, and here is what he said about fixing smuggler:

"Our current goal is to upgrade the spices, enhance slicing (things other than armor and weapons) and improve the smuggler’s melee skills"

-cough- Let's look at smuggler....Low blow works, last ditch works, and panic shot works. You can craft spices right now, you can slice weapons and armor fine with no error. You can perform business at the recruiter fine..... but then all the sudden smuggler turns into some kind of #1 concern that it needsa big revamp right away.

Let's see here, they want to talk about fixing and adding stuff to a profession that basically WORKS FINEalready when commando is sitting here left out in the rain? How are you gonna talk about adding melee skills to a profession when overall commando deserves more specials and skills overall? It's sort of sad when an elite combat profession like commando has less special attacks then a profession thatdoesn't even have a main combat role (like smuggler)

How about we dedicate a WHOLE PUBLISH to commando? The profession lacks so much it deserves one, lol. But no....the devs revamp chef, carbineer (and fail to fix it)...and announce they specifically plan to revamp two professions which work better than commando (squad leader and smuggler)? Can we get our priorities straight here?

While the devs are busy trying to design dancing droids, candles, and dresses for trandoshens females to wear, a profession exists that should get alot of attention to fix.. Come on now..we are not happy with the weapons, the specials, the defenses and the role of commando. What are they going to devote a whole publish to or spend weeks fixing next...the musician profession? They already are dedicating a whole mini publish to IMAGE DESIGNER.

Let me get this straight also...A combat medic can toss a little syringe the entire length of a football field and hit a player to cause a devastating mind poison every throw, but a commando standing TEN METERS away can miss several times, while holding a huge flamethrower that shoots a widestream of fire probably multiple feet in diameter and length...I don't get it.

I can understand how you want better slices for smuggler, yeah, but I can also probably think of way more things wrong with commando then smuggler.

Yeah i've heard our publishes will be snuck into mini publishes in the future (possibly months from now?) But it's sort of stomach turning to find out it works this way..

Played a smuggler much? I have a Master Smuggler/Master Commando and allow me to clue you in on a few things.

Spices: They are crap, Every smuggler produces the exact same spice with the exact same stats regardless of the quality of ingredients used. Spices are the ONLY crafted item that I am aware of that has no experimentation value. You cant change anything about spices.

Dirty Fighting: 4 nice specials, not one point of weapon skill, not one certification, not one point of weapon speed. Not one use for the unarmed combat tree.

Underworld: Not one usefull thing if you arent part of the GCW

Slicing: Nothing effects the outcome of a slice, it is pure randomness. Not quality of Materials, not skill level of Smuggler. The only thing that changes with higher blocks is what you can slice and the % range upper cap.

As for not being a combat class, seems all the prereqs are combat oriented.

And as for the whole "Low blow works, last ditch works, and panic shot works" allow me to retort. FlameSingle 1 works, FlameSingle 2 works, FlameCone 1 works, FlameCone 2 works, AcidSingle 1 works, AcidSingle 2 works, AcidCone 1 works, AcidCone 2 works, and every single one of them does 2-10 times the damage of one low blow/ panic shot combo.

So I guess you just think commando is perfectly fine now?

And I guess you think everyone running around with %90 armor and %35 damage sliced weapons is really fair?

If you ask me having slices random makes the uber modified items rare... and keeping stuff rare makes the game challenging and exciting.

And why dont you play a smuggler and find out how many times you DONT get a 35% damage slice. Find out how many "failures" (AKA Speed) slices we get. We have no control what so ever over a slice. All smugglers are asking for in that regards is a LITTLE bit of control.

And I never said Commando's dont need some loving. But ANYTHING they do to the profession with be null and void come the combat revamp. And by the way, in case you werent aware, Commando's have already been given a once over. But I guess you werent playing when commando weapons did squat for damage and were basicly a joke. Where as, asside from the "crackdown" which can be avoided so easily its pathetic, the has been NO change to Smugglers since inception.

kraftomatic, I feel your pain, I really do as a fellow commando, but attacking other professions who also need lovin' is not the way forward! Smugglers are a non-entity at the moment, slicing is their only real thing (the chef patch was, in it's own way, a Smuggler nerf - I never touch Moun anymore). More to the point, whereas we are still waiting to be told that our profession will get fixed, the smugglers have been waiting on a so far unfulfilled promise for a while.

Seriously, I really think we all will benefit more from showing the devs a united front - they won't respond to bickering between professions.

That said, Smugglers need 1 nerf - I want to talk in Lekku and have ONLY other twi'leks understand

Sure, the smuggler has its problems, my good friend has been a master smuggler since early in the game, and I hear about it all the time and have been for months on smugglers broken issues...but smuggler takes MUCH less skill points to master and can be used with other professions to make a smuggler very powerful, i.e. Master Smuggler/Master pistoleer/TKM. How many commandos can master 3 combat professions?

Dont even start on the HAR specials, using overcharge2 is more effective with a HAR then the specials that it has, that entire tree is a waste of time. A smuggler is also supposed to be a "jack of all trades", not pure combat, like us.How many profession can say they can craft and fight with only one profession. At least a smuggler has more flexibility, you do not have to master any profession just to be a smuggler, 58 skill points is all it takes to make novice. Novice Commando, 101 points. (i may be wrong here some, im adding in my head, and atm im not real clear headed, lol)

Now I can agree that smuggler needs some fixing, but I do not think it is AS BROKEN as commando is. But to say it needs fixing before commando doesnt work. They BOTH need fixing.

Now this Image Designer publish, (sighs), WHY? WHY? WHY? I guess first and foremost, we must make sure we are all very pretty before we get into combat, or either the devs decided that we are just too ugly and this is a big hint? For the life of me, I can not figure this out.

Well, at least we are not completely useless, i mean us commandos are needed to take down an opposing base, lol, but then again, is it worth getting diseased and poisoned from a mile awayto throw a power switch?

There is a reason there areso many of usSTILL around, because deep down we believe our profession will get fixed, I just fear that there will not be many of us left this time next year when we get fixed.

IF you can't tell, we must not be very liked by the makers...every new dungeon gives some professions some lovin'. Pistoleers got a nice geo pistol, riflemen got some fancy rifles (tho not that great, but like they need any more good weapons), even BH's look to be getting some in the next dungeon, not to mention the exploding droids they just got. What have we got? Oh oh oh, I know, heavy weapon tapes, armor attachments, and grenade assembly tapes too, woohoo....oh and a flamethrower with 4 specials, though really only 2 specials with a weaker version of each and the Lag pistol, in case we need to support our teammates while they take down AT-ST's and turrets.

Ahh yes, the mindset that a commando is for support, oh, i get it now, Commando=squire....to hell with that, for the points it takes, they need to be supporting US.

Oops, sorry, there i go again, wining....

I can say this, at least we have a correspondant that appears to be working to get us where we need to be, just that personally, fixing the HAR, isnt going to do it, just drive more people away, i am afraid.

Ok, I got the blues on commando.

I wanna know ImageDesigners mini-publish......they gonna nerf the 4 hour master?

For crying out loud....Enough with Invansions and Crackdowns.

How about working on game mechanics, and revamping professions.

I for own would Like to see....

1.) No more dungeons until profession revamp/combat balance is complete.
2.) Faction Perks revamp....how about giving us some perks on both sides.
5000 fp for a borked rocket...any idea how many stormies I gotta whack for that?
3.) Game Play...Fix some warping issues. Auto store issues and the like.

New Content is good, don't get me wrong. But what good is the new content if the most basic part of the game that effects each and every character is broken. Fix the professions, make sure all the do-hickeys work and forget about another dungeon in the mean time.

Hahahaah. I used to be a Master Commando. In fact, I still wear the tag! I loved it. Until about two publishes ago. I don't know what the hell happened, really.. Just that suddenly, out of nowhere, I was the most easily killed profession in all of PvP. By Teras Kasi Novices! Rich, is it not? That we have to master their column of Unarmed, as well as an entire other profession, yet a Novice can down us in a few spins? I gave it up. Of COURSE I gave it up. It made me want to wretch to see what had happened to all of my work and pride. I couldn't hit the broad side of a bantha with a twelve -foot long, one-foot wide pillar of fire. And even if I could hit a person, my Damage Over Time was virtually non-existent. When I did hit, and caught a burn on someone, the main attack wouldn't hit them. If it did, it was about 600 damage points out of 3000+ buffs on one stat pool. I laughed at myself, I was so pitiful. I had a gun that could incinerate armies of creatures and NPCs, yet.. In PvP.. I was no more useful than a Dancer. And had less defense. Commando had been the only thing I strove for upon entering the game.. Achieved it, and lived happily. And suddenly, one day, it was like I had live my life without a goal. I was still a killing machine against NPCs and creatures, yes........ But what good is that when I don't have anything to master, eh? Anyway. I know that this is the sad story of many commando colleagues, who, like myself, have reluctantly and bitterly turned to melee to achieve a mere trace of the former satisfaction we had as Master Commandos. I continue to wear my Master Commando tag in hopes that some day I can return to the profession and fill it out again. Until then, it's just a sad reminder of the former glory a profession that is supposed to be elite had. xD Rofl. I had to find somewhere to type that up. But yeah, I agree. Attacking other professions that are also as painful to represent is no way to go about getting Commando fixed. We could always hold a protest.. though I doubt it'd be as rockin' successful as the Wookiee armor march. >_>
