um......

what class are you? did i hear you say something about Commando being better than BH in PvP? if this is the case, you are clearly playing a different game than me...

I do see the seeds for some good ideas here, most of them have been expressed to some extent in the "In Concept: Commando" thread before it was taken down for Dev examination and implementation.

Franlkly, you missed the boat bro :/. The devs collected a big ball of what we wanted for each class (from every prof for every prof) and are working hard on what will be implemented and how as we speak. All we can do now is hope and pray that they make the right decisions, and that those decisions take this game much closer to what i think it could aspire to.

but keep on posting, it's always good to hear people's ideas!

Let's face it, before there was the T-21, there were Commandos and Bounty Hunters. These were the best combat professions around in ranged weaponry. Hell, they almost still are. The Commando is still one of the most revered professions in the game, not only for it's raw power in PvE combat, but also for it's power in PvP Combat. All this revolves around the concept of the flamethrower. The commando job has dwindled down, if it ever was above that, to the pious worship of the flamethrower. All other weapons and capabilities are forgotten and just skills to pick up along the way. Why is it a commando then if all people do is use the flamethrower? Why not just rape Blizzard North Entertainment a little bit (not too much) and call them Firebats?

The Commando profession should be a bit more like the Bounty Hunter profession, at least on a technical basis. The Bounty Hunter (Let's forget the horrid affair that is Investigation XP for a moment), must actually use his Carbine for Carbine XP, Pistol for Pistol XP, and LLC for HW XP to actually gain skills in those areas. I think it would only be fair for the Commando tree to be split up justly. After all, what's the point in offering the Acid Rifle if no one uses it and can actually become a master of the Acid rifle without ever picking one up? Hell, I bet there's a few of them who have never even seen the Acid Rifle. I personally haven't seen one since before January! A Commando should have Experience set up for each tree. I agree Grenades can go with Combat XP. Few people use grenades (Though they're great vs. Hives and Nests), and the Cannons should be offered by Heavy Weapons XP (though they do awesome damage, so perhaps that should be doubled for using those cannons because of what a hassle it can be to get them and use them, so it would be a bit easier on them), but there should be a strict Acid Rifle XP System for that tree and a Flamethrower XP System for it's respectible tree as well. If there isn't, then what is the point of having them? Why not, as I previously suggested, call the class Firebat and have titles such as "Flamer," "Napalm Breath," "Pyromaniac," and "Explosive Emissions Expert"?

Also, I've noticed that Bounty Hunter is the only true Hybrid Class. It takes up the most skills to be, (Mastering two basic classes, Scout and Marksman), and offers little in the way of a secondary profession (Gaining a little bit of ranger, creature handler, squad leader, carbineer, or pistoleer), but such is that, that no more than 4-3-0-0 can be gained (If you master one tree, go to the next etc). While Commando, having greater PvP and PvE abilities (as shown because the main things BH's have are EyeShot and Knockdown. The LLC isn't exactly a PvP weapon of choice. Though Torso shot, a "Desperado" skill, can set things on fire, most flamethrowers outdamage LLC's to begin with), only must master a Profession, and a tree. This can be solved in two ways. First, which I am sure COmmandos would loathe, would be to make them master the entire brawler profession. Most commandos (especially PvP ones), go Teras Kasi Artist as a strong secondary, and because of the unused skills in the brawler profession (I won't go into the fact that they get Meditate, indeed one of the best abilities in-game, besides TKA being one of the greatest PvE professions there are), it's very possible to master it as well. This gives you a death-dealing machine in all arenas. The other option is to allow the Bounty Hunter to only master a single tree in Scout. Since the latest few publishes, camps aren't even required to pull out anything. Most Bounty Hunters use the (Hunter) title when they first begin (It looks better than Novice, at least to one's ego), so I might advise that the tree of choice be the Hunting one (for obvious reasons), mainly due to that the survival XP (while seeming most beneficial to the profession) is used for Squad Leader and the like (But it can be for that one as well, it's really not my business to say). This would allow Bounty Hunters an equal opportunity to enjoy a secondary elite profession like Commandos (and almost every other job that goes into elite professions, since only BH, Commando, Squad Leader, Smuggler, and Bio-Engineer can be classified as hybrids), which would grand ludicrous opportunities to either become creature handlers (so they don't have to wear armor or get buffs when chasing bounties {not jedi ones anyway}), or enhance their own special techniques with Pistoleer (which may actually bring accolades to the downtrodden class), or Carbineer (ditto). Hell, the very worst could happen, and a being may be able to be both a Bounty Hunter and Commando, to some level (Though this is probably why the true hybrid for BH was put in place, so they could not become a Commando, but that's unfair for BH's because they're being taken advantage of in skills while the Commando gets by).

It's really just an objective analysis, I'll be putting this on the other thread too. Tell me what you think. I'm in Radiant.

Yup, pretty much. Lot's of skillpoints invested, with limited flexibility in dabbling options due to the skill-point cost and lack of flexibility within the profession itself.

My prediction is that post-CR the BH's end up as a High damage, medium defense, with commandos being highest damage andlight defense.
