Thread: Is this a commando weapon???

I was given a weapon called a Beam rifle...everyone thinks this is a commando weapon...i'm not sure. Currently, I am 3-3-4-1 commando. I cannot use this weapon yet, and see nothing in the Heavy Weapon Support to indicator that I ever will be able to...anyone know anything about this weapon?


Also, I purchased a ligh lightning cannon because I remember that pre-patch that was the 3rd skill box in Heavy Weapon Support. I cannot use it although I have achieved the Lightning Beam Cannon skil box. Are these 2 weapons different? If they are, where can I find a lightning beam cannon? No vendors have them, including the bazaar..I've checked the galaxy and they don't exist on starsider. Any help would be appreciated.

None of those is commando weapons. Beam rifle... I havent found who has the cert for it even tho god knows I've tried.

The LLC is a Bounty Hunter heavy weapon and you need BH Novice to get a cert for it.

The Lightning Beam Cannon is a limited charge heavy weapon. They not very popular and have rather limited use, so very few weaponsmiths make them.

Light lightning cannon is a BH weapon.

Lightning Beam Cannon is the Commando weapon.

no the beam riffle is loot only it was a wepon in beta they never made it. So its no ones wepon

Uhm..I never thought I would say this..but.."N00bs".



The Beam rifle, used to be a commando weapon. From back when we made our own grenades.


Some say it were "taken away" back in beta, but actually it was during the first "Commando fix"..wich divided commando weapons into mods for each weapon.


Back then, the "Heavy weapon speed/accuracy" attachments even worked..as all commando weapons were based on "heavy Weapon accuracy/speed"...Not like today.."Flamethrower speed, HAR speed, RL speed" etc.

Actually a WS can make it at Firearms Crafting4.

As for the Cert, I'm in the dark on this one. Do you get the cert spam when you equip it?

Yes, I get the typical "you lack the skill...blah blah blah" message for the beam rifle. I pretty much knew the lightning cannon was a BH weapon, but due to the similarities and the recent "profession title" changes in the last publish, I thought that maybe the devs had renamed some of the weapons too.


Just wanted to make sure of those before I sold them.

There's no cert for it in game, and you do get the "You are not certified" message when you equip it. I have seen a few player crafted ones, and it's no more difficullt to make than a flkamethorwer (though the base damage is about half that of the HAR).


It's a legacy weapon that has no place in the game right now. Since it does "Energy" damage, I'm not that keen on reacquiring the cert myself, as I believe I'd rarely use it. Nonetheless I do OWN one, because it reminds me of my days when the original Jeren stalked his hunting grounds in beta. Oh how the durnis feared me then...unless there were, like, a couple of them. Then I'd just get pwned.
