Thread: Greetings from the sands of Yuma, Arizona

Hi again my fellow Commandos.

If anyone here has been wondering on my lack of flaming in the forums, my butt is over in Yuma, Arizona ("WTI" for the Gyrenes out there). Sand, sun, and of course the legendary (notorious?) Yuma Yummies.

I got lucky and had the time to find the base library with net access, but I can't get onto the net normally over here.

Anyways, I check in and see what's going on around SWG and to my surprise, I finally see something about the Combat Rebalance.

I can't really form an opinion yet since I just started checking, but there are some surprising moves out there. The SP prerequisites are a definite change. Maybe reduce the stacking out there? We'll see. BH and Commandos will still be the expensive hybrids but we'll have SPs for freestyling our Commando templates.

Well, I can't comment too much due to WTI, so for our Commando representatives to the devs: Keep the pressure and flames up.

Semper Fi from the sands.

OK, maybe I'm dumber than I give myself credit for. What is WTI and what is a Gyrene?

Me too, I have no idea what this is.

Anyway . . .

So your in Yuma, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, sucker . . . I used to live about 45 minutes from there, in California. Have you been there in summer yet? Just to make you feel warm and fuzzy all over, a typical day there is around 118 degrees F in august. We used to have to wait till midnight to go swimming, when it was only 100 degrees outside. LOL!!!

Anyway, good luck.

I am so thankful I never got tasked to MALS-13 out there. Those poor b@st@rds.

You obviously know all about the Yuma Yummies. Stay away from the coyotes.. no matter how much money they say you can make.

It's all US Marine jargon.

WTI is an annual training event that alot of different units send detachments to. IIRC, it means "Weapons Training & Instruction"

Gyrene is for the other Marines on this board (there are a few).

I've been in Yuma numerous times, all of it on military orders. Trust me, I have better things to do than sit in the sand.

I've been here for all seasons during the course of all my happy visits here

Hehe, I just got back to the cool, snow of Flagstaff, oh, 3-4 hours ago, and I still have a headache from something in Mexico. Yeah, and the heat in that area is a killer, at least you can drink your water.....

I came across something funny... or sad, depending on your views.

I talked to a fairly seasoned Sergeantover in the Mess Hall over here.

I discovered he has beenstationed atYuma for 2 years now (ouch). The real kicker was when I asked him where he was before:

He had been previously stationed at "29 Stumps" or 29 Palms for 4 years.

I cringed when he said this and thought, "Wow, who did this guy p**s off at Headquarters?"

No kidding.
The only other guys I know that did a 29 stumps tour followed by a Yuma tour where guys who had family in the area.

At least he wasn't like my best friend.. got his accompanied Japan orders canked for the war in Iraq, got back from the deployment to get cut new UNaccompanied orders to Japan. Wasted his re-up for those original orders.. poor guy. Oh, and he is headed back to Iraq before Japan again.
Ain't military life grand?

I told him to go AVI.. but no, he wanted combat engineer.

BTW... whats your MOS?
