Thread: Grenades ?!?!

Are these things any good now?

What kind of damage do they do?

Are they useful in PvP or PvE ?


I am thinking putting a template together involving Comando 4/0/0/0 I think it would be cool to use these but I want to know if they are effective at all, Thanks for any help you can offer

The best thing about grenades at the moment is their ability to apply states/dots. They have worse damage per second than our weapons due to really long timers, the area of effect is huge and draws aggro from every mob under the sun (even through walls). I think I saw a signature once with Jabba the Hutt laughing at the thermal detonator b/c it only dealt 300 damage and another couldn't be used for another minute. Also, I think a lot of the grenade issues are discussed somewhere in the stickies. BTW are you a FS grinder? A lot of Commandos are sore that people looking for the fastest way to Jedi have and continue to use our profession as nothing more than a stepping stone to Jedi. These people usually end up taking just that one line of Commando.

no Im not an FS grinder, Iam TKM / MCM and have some sp left over I was trying to figure out what to use it on and being able to throw grenades around sounded really cool I will probly do it anyway considering I don't have any desire to use guns and with the current template I am setup to go straight into Comando or Smuggler

i have proton grenedes that say they do 454-1028 damage but in the combat log when i throw them at a lvl 25 they do 16 damage,



Those who spent the time to earn alpha class should remain as an alpha class, buff elder jedi.

I hope they fix nades. Unless they are working as intended.


But judging by the reaction in jaba's throne room when Leia pulled out the thermal detonator, I'd say they are supposed to deal considerable damage.

My favorite use for grenades is for aggroing creatures. I chuck an Imperial Detonator (30m Blast Radius)at the mission lair and run like hell. I call that "Hunting Commando Style." It really is a lot of fun, but some people inmy group usually end up dead and that creates some occasional animosity towards me.It's not like I don't give them warning, either.

Heh, yeah, it's a good thing I only hunt with guildmates and friends.


On a side note, I'm glad I've never had anyone tell me that I couldn't use Commando weapons. It gets me angry just thinking about it. I'd probably suggest thatwhoever told me thatshould just become a safer profession like Image Designer or Tailor ifhe issuch a noob that he can't handle a little extra aggro every now and then.

Well I picked it up last night, had the combat xp banked from grinding other stuff. I love it! even with the borked damage it was just fun to apply the states to 6 or 7 Bols, It will be really cool once they put some decent damage on these, if they can ever break away from fixing Jedi and BH pfftLOL

When my usual hunting group wants some excitement we have our commando throw a grenade, that usually wakes everyone up in a hurry. I swear the range on those imp det are 45m though, at least it seems like it.

Stuff like that would usually get you booted promptly off of the group. At least on Ahazi. You better know your Commando weapons completely. Radius, Range, Effects, etc.

It's getting to the point where they don't want Commandos to use Commando weapons or grenades.
