I remember I did 31k dmg but this is random and rare.

How did you get that menu that shows the distance and direction to your waypoints all in a box on the UI?

options > misc > 'show onscreen waypoint monitor' (third option from the top).

that WAS the shot that killed it though...

well.. I mean, duh of course it was.. but it wasn't the ONLY shot at it.
I'd shot around four-five ones before that one.
which did moderate damage.. in the 700-range.
