Thread: Can a Commando/CH ask for some advice...
I love the commando flamer....the best fun in the game is when it first went 'WHHAMMMUPPPPPP' and the whole screen turned yellow....whohooo.....
anyway....I have JUST enough skill points to get to 0-0-4-0, but Im a little worried about getting all my offensive strength (ignoring my pets - yeah, right!)...in heat.
I was wondering (assuming the HAR gets little love in pub 7, whether I should go for 0-1-2-0 - just in case I come up against a critter with high heat resist - I'll have a reasonable attack for both acid and heat and have a bit of accuracy in my main weapon (flamethrower)....
Does anyone have any views? - I know the HAR is a bit poor atm, but I'd appreciate your views....would you go for 0-0-4-0 or 0-1-2-0. Do you all just rely on the launcher pistrol when you come up against something with high heat resist?...
btw - this is exclusively for PvE - a MCH doing PvP doesnt tend to last long!!!
Well, when I first started I mastered Commando right off the bat. It really is worth it if only for the extra accuracy (I use rocket launchers now too, so that accuracy is essential) and the "cone 2" attacks. The HAR has historically been quite underpowered, with broken speed/accuracy (which are being fixed now), no armor piercing (not fixed), no DoT (not fixed), and lower damage than the flamethrower (also not fixed). I say "not fixed" because these features in my opinion do make it a "broken" weapon despite the speed/accuracy mods being repaired.
With 0/0/4/4 you'll end up with both Acidsingle 2 and Flamesingle 2, which will help to at least allow you the option of having an efficient attack with an alternate damage type should the need arise. If you don't want to sacrifice the skill points, but still want to go close-quarters with enemies (and you'll have to using the flamethrower), I would just stick with 0/0/4/0 for now, and mainly rely on pets for the rest.
I hope this helps! Personally, I like both CH and Commando, so I got an alt to be a Master CH, LOL--although he still is only a little above novice, it's a lot of fun.
