We have just spent 3 days of unbelivable pvp. 2 weekends in a row of non stop unrelentless mass pvp. By far some of the greatest Kettemoor has ever seen. And I realized, Commando really isnt as gimped as everyone claims.
True, pve is a pain with aoe. But pvp I have to say Commando is by far the major player in warfare.
Let me give you a brief description of my Commando.
CL 77
Master Commando
Master Marksman
Some smuggler
Some pistoleer
Some carbineer
Both ranged arms
(im at work i cant get in game to get my exact template)
My purpose in the GCW is to drop Jedi healers with my RL and Concussion shot. This renders the healing jedi inoperable for 30 seconds or so. They cant get up or move. It is by far the most annoying shot Ive eer come across. I can alternate between Concussion and Disarming shot. Disarming with a RL really can mess you up. Most people I know will hit a macro to heal and stand.Nice delay can mess any macro up if shot at the right time.
Secondary Rifleman. Yes with a Proton Rifle I can double as a Rifleman. Very nice for those long distant standoffs. Still have all the knockdowns and rooting/snares.
Mass group annoyance. All will tremble when the crazed Ilthorian Commando charges the enemy lines and lets loose the Lightning cannon shot coupled with a knockdown. Ive seen an estimated 40 Imperials on the ground after this. And told I look funny as can be as im running away after knocking everyone down.
Grenades..... Yes I use grenades. Imperial Dets are wonderful in urban mass brawls. or to throw around corners and buildings. Plus sometimes the grenades stay on teh map and you can see them =)
And when the batle is won, the runnaway sniper. Countless Jedi have fallen to my RL roots/snares and concussion shots when running away. Letting the Jedi and other ranged guys to take them out.
And no greater compliment can be given to a suposedly gimped profession when some Imperial guild leaders are telling you that all thats being said on thier Vent channel is "Kill that ^%$#@ Dantae!"

Exactly, we're great at AOE mezzes and roots. That's it. GCW mass PvP is the ONLY time we stand out. That, and maybe AOE groups since an AOE root is nice for keeping the mobs in a tight circle.
A smuggler without Commando can mezz individual Jedi healers just as easily adn for less SAC, they just won't be on the ground. Add rifleman or BH to that and you have the same runaway sniper for, once again, less SAC.
Not to downplay our current excellence in crowd control (CROWD CONTROL not DAMAGE), but isn't this like the one trick pony deal we had pre-CU? It's just a bit more of a nice one trick. You just have to be in some massive PvP.

pretty much its been a 3 week long mass battle. well since i started going.
the weekends have seen 10-12 hour battles. We even broke Lok one day .hehehe
