Get payed by people who want to bust baces?
Space. (sell your loot to Player Shipwrights not Chassis dealers and earn 150% what you would by going thru the chassis dealer)

Shipwrights only want the even level loot from space as far as I can tell. Odd level loot you can just sell to chassis dealer. But even then, the only stuff that is selling AFAIK is the tier 4+, so you have some space grinding if you want to make any cash.

That you would be wrong in 
Even loot is the best in quality. However the main reason alot of shipwrights pay around 1500 per level is just to RE them so that we might get a Firespray Schematic Fragment (8 in all) that randomly come out of REs.
Level 1 loot sometimes sells to Players for upwards to 4k per, since they are the easyest to RE and get a Schematic Fragment from.

I guess I have not been running into the right shipwrights, or they are all stingy. But I am not in a PA, so...

Check your Trade Forum, alot of times there are SWs offering to buy loot there.
or send an e-mail to them asking if they buy loot and at what price. Most shipwrights are People Friendly

Uh yeah Space here to.
I don't think Commando is really capable of doing missions, or at least not well. I suppose you could try to deliver missions. Or get another Combat Prof. and use that Profession to do missions and make money in a reasonable amount of time. But uh yea that's pretty much it.
Most Space Loot is garbage these days, or 90% which the Chassis Dealers pay for just as much. I love getting 9K for something completely worthless.

Seriously though. Space. Big Mission Groups (dont use commando weapons near adds/lairs/overspawns!!!!!) And selling Uber loot.
The last one I have never done since the teams we go with to the high end mobs are usually pick up teams and someone needs the loot.
Oh and for the record, out of the 20 or so Necrosis runs we have done, I have never, not even once, seen a proton rifle.
