I got a good look at a "heavy weapon" today called the "Heavy Particle Cannon", and I am disgusted with how it looks. It is basically a spraystick. What the hell? How is a gun like that classified as a "heavy weapon"? I was disgusted with the spraystick being a rifle and am about ten times more disgusted with a similar looking weapon being passed off as a "heavy weapon".

Are you sure it wasn't just named that? Quite frankly I wouldn't trust it.. what are the stats, attack mods, and ideal range? I'm sure they're gimped like the rest of commando weapons, and if it looks just like a spraystick.. i mean identical, then it is one.

it is not a gun, u do not equip this, they act like grenades and have about 100-200 charges depending on the weaponsmith etc.

Fire the damned thing .

Your character assmbles it and mounts it on their shoulder before firing, it is much better than a spraystick. It also is a cannon so it uses charges and is activated like a grenade

OK, thanks for letting me know. The reason I thought it was a small spray stick looking thing is because when I examined it it was verticle, but I guess the player puts it horizontal on their shoulder like you said.

I recently purchased this nerf-tastic weapon from Rochelle on the Sunrunner server. Great stats... can't hit anything, of course. As far as I know, I can't equip the weapon like a typical weapon. Instead, you select the target and your character takes about 1/2 a second to kneel, uncap the barrel (or something), aims, then fires. A big red beam shoots out with an accompanying "whiiiirrrr". I guess the effects would have been more awe inspiring if it would actually hit anything. I shot at a tabage lair mid-ranged and point-blank and I still could not land one single shot. Pretty big HAM drain on top of missing. Sadly, this weapon is expendable, so I didn't feel like blowing creds away. Not sure what a spraystick looks like, but the Heavy Particle Beam Weapon like like a long tube with a scope. Nothing fancy. 200-300 dmg with 9.0 sec delay. Don't remember the HAM costs, but they aren't low. I asked her to experiment with the delay time and she said that the previous numbers were even higher. Frankly, that doesn't really matter because it's not equipped like a rifle so you can't exactly run around and fire this thing. Makes sense, considering most heavy weapons are just that - heavy.

Oh yeah. I got 11 HW exp from using the weapon too... even though I didn't actually hit anything.

Cannons are variations of rocket launchers. In inventory they do look like a spray stick, but when use it, it sorta goes like a grenade..

You hot key it like a grenade, and when you want to fire it,
you press the hotkey,
Your toon takes a knee,
Your toon puts the weapon he/she has in hand on the ground (animation only),
Toon pulls magic big stick from imaginery back pack,
puts cannon/rocket launcher on shuolder,
Fires,
Puts cannon away,
pickes up melee/range weapon (animation) from the ground,
stands up,
Ponders why he misses? and why it takes so long to recover.

Basically, its a grenade with more animation and more range and charges. Its not a rifle you carry around.

God just get rid of all our expendable weapons except grenades and rocket launchers. I freakin hate charged weapons and seriously doubt I'll ever buy any if a weaponsmith even bothers creating one since the demand will be so low.

Well, the cannons can have up to and over 200 charges.

Its not intended to be fired more than once or twice in a single fighting event, and then only in group situations.

The material cost to make one of these is 6K, so paying 7 or 8K for one isnt a bad deal. Paying 30K for one is a rip off.

I've never use more than one of each of the 3 kind, Im not going to waste my time on a rocket launcher. Their crafting requirements are totally out of balance for their affectiveness.

What would be cool, is they do away with rocket launchers totally, and in stead have a grenade launcher. Where yuo buy the tube, its a permanent item that has condition rather than charges, and you load it with what ever grenade you have. Then it does the grenade damage but at a 60m ideal range. This would be easy to make work, it would basically be the fish pool code with combat add ons.

Anyway, would make it more worth while to pay 40K for a grenade launcher, and add utility to grenades, than to bother with paying for a rocket launcher thats 10x more complicated than any other craftable firearm(with maybe the exception of a T-21.. geesh those things are rediculous in construction)

Garibaldi, I can guarantee you, based on resource rarity and total resources required, the Haven would charge upwards of 30K for a RL. Any less, and it's a waste of our Factory time. In short, we'd lose money.

And if you don't thinki know what I'm talking about, check out the title in my .sig below.
