Are you guys telling me that the only way to be good in combat is to be a Bounty Hunter or a Commando? Can any of the other weapon professions Melee or Ranged, keep up in the least?

Not bashing or flamming, just wondering.

It will be very interesting to see what happens when defenses start working. Niether Commando nor BH get any defensive mods (Actually, I think commandos get like +10 ranged defense or something). Other classes get all kinds of posture chage resists, dodges, damage reduction, etc. Furthermore, the combat dev has stated plans to give melee professions a skill to greatly increase their protection for a short period.

I have the feeling that once defenses actually start mattering, we'll see the playing field leveled a bit.

I think a Commando has enough points left over to invest in another profession for defensive skills, the BH has alot invested in scout and is left with far fewer points to spend.

combat medics completely own in huge pvp battles. AOE mind poisons will take out groups in no time flat.

also, my friend is a carbinier, and he frequently demolishes others in pvp.

CH isn't a bad thing to have either. i was on a raid in theed tonight, and had a graul mauler, gurrek, vesp scavenger, and some merek thingy on me......all at once (no, not from one guy). i went down pretty fast. guess i should take my master commando tag off .

oh yeah, riflemen are pretty strong too. mindshot+headshot=death. only saving grace is that their mind pool gets drained pretty hard as well from doing the specials. unless they changed this. haven't fought a rifleman in a while. they tend to stay away from our "melee" flamers.

Combat medics have a tough time with TKA for some reason.

A well balanced template will consistently beat the flavor of the month every time.

Just for perspective, I went 1 vs. commando, bounty hunter, combat medic, some newbie brawler, and a pistoleer all at the same time. I killed all of them.

I'm a TKA/Pistoleer/Smuggler. They all ate a healthy helping of Last Ditch. Commando flame throwers are tough but they're pretty much useless when you have 2k health. I think I was set on fire a total of 6 times tonight on Tatooine. Not once did any of those fires incap me.

How do you answera question about pvp that singles out one part of a larger organization?

Every profession can do something, (or will be able to do something when the devs focus on it,) and all of that adds together in pvp. one vs one comparisons are neither fair nor valid, since the game isnt about dueling, its about waring.

So, are other combat professions viable in pvp? You bet they are, but not in every role, and not in every fight. Dont look at individual professions, look at templets also. A combination of professions is what makes a solid pvp character.

I break my own advice on that acount, but to be honest... I'd rather enjoy myself, and sometimes that means I dont want to do things to be the best.

mind damage is king of high end PvP.

A Flamethrower will not one shot someone with doc buffs and good composite(not without the DoT).

With 400+ stim Bs anyone can negate health/action for a short time.

Nope I go down just as easily as the next guy to a sniper with mind shot or a nut with poisons and diseases. Its not all about offensive power, its about strategy, how you fight, and how deffend yourself.

You guys keep reading the post written by the long winded guy you think is an idiot.
