This question started on another thread - I apologize if it has been covered before.

I have just startedas a Novice Commando and keep getting Pistol XP off of the Launcher Pistol instead of Heavy Weapons XP.

I also have Smuggler and Pistoleer (I know I can't keep all ) has any else encountered this problem?

I tried using NO specials (didn't that take forever) and am still getting Pistol XP.

Anybody else got an idea?

I'm thinking that too

I put in a report early on.

I'm wondering...could that be a very OLD LP? LPs used to give Pistol XP, but (back in the bad old days when there were NO Heavy Weapons of any kind) the devs switched it to HWXP so that there was SOME was of advancing.

That change may not have been retroactive to existing LPs...

I wish the LP gave me pistol xp.

Think about it, the weapon uses pistol skills and specials, yet if we use it we get xp for things like the flamethrower and the like. If I use the LP alot I want to get better at using the LP not all my other weapons.

The reason the LP was changed to HWXP was because all the other HW sucked at the time and there was no way to get HWXP without the LP giving it, that has changed now, and pistol XP needs to be given for the LP again.

not really. i have a krayt fwg5 that's almost as powerful and faster than my krayt launcher pistol. so if i really want pistol xp, i'll use that. however, i'm one of the few that actually like that oversized blowdryer. i think the graphics are cool and sounds sweet. that's just me though.

and mikaal, i did get hw xp when i couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a flamer. i got master before the big patch for us all. it got a lot easier once the LP did give hw xp. but before that, i was stuck doing healthshot 1 and 2, then kiting the slow mobs with my flamer for the xp.

I convinced my hunting buddy to let me take down all the lairs on our trip to Yavin, that helps considerably.

And I even occasionally take out a nasty with it

On top of sucking terribly, my theme park LP gives pistol xp, and this is well after the fix on crafted LPs. Only instance i've had outside of using supression fire to slow down those stormtroopers running away from rebel NPCs.
