i posted a while back asking which tree to work my way up heavy support or acid. well after doing support i decided to try acid as well since i decided to cut back my CH boxes a bit. Well I'm firing the acid rifle and i noticed it doesn't have any DOT attack. Am i missing something or what. What is acid single or acid cone for other than more damage? If there isn't any DOT can we please get some DOT added to maybe give some variety to commando's. everyone uses the flamethrower. if the HAR was better and had DOT maybe more people would use it. I can't afford to use my shoulder launch weapons all the time. gets kinda expensive having to buy more after 26-32 shots. thanks.

No Your not missing anythign the only thing that is currently working currectly for the commandos is the flamethrower and a few throwing weopons. There will be patches to make the acid better. Pluse i heard becoming master commando for the flame cone 2 is well worht the skills.

The problems with the Har are pretty well documented on this board.

It's measurably inferior to the Flamer in every practical respect in game: to wit, it's slower, it does less damage (even with comparable specials), no DoT, the accuracy bonuses to use it are bugged and do NOT stack properly (so it's WAY less accurate)AND (after all that) it takes more XP to become proficient in it. (To the extent we ever become proficient in it at all.)

It's only superior attribute (in addition to the possibility that a target may be relatively less acid resisant than heat resistant...which is reasonably rare) is that the Har has a better chance of causing wounds. Wounds are of little tactical benefit in-game, though. They tend to just be a nuisance.Wounds are useful against ATSTs sometimes, but the ATSTs acid resists makes this particular weapon useless against them.

Sorry you heard wrong.

Master commando is no more powerful then a dabbler with flame tree 4.

Personally, I'd prefer to see the HAR made to be very different from the FT. After all, it is a rifle. It'd be cool if they made it an entirely different sort of weapon, making it our mid-long range weapon of choice, maybe more accurate but less damage?

I'd much rather have a unique weapon at my disposal than a flamethrower clone with a different damage type.

i say the har should be able to use rifle specials. mind shot and headshot combo would work great with this.

I agree with Raptor. It's a rifle, make it behave like one.

Funny thing though is that when you think about it logically...a rifle that shoots acid is one of the most ridiculous concepts for a weapon ever.

Assuming that it fires in rounds as it appears to (as opposed to a constant spray), it would have all the impact power of a super soaker....but fair enough. It's acid, and acid burns (albeit fairly slowly, given that you want the weapon to have some sort of stopping power). But how is delivering the acid via some kind of rifle round better than spraying itfrom a hose? Heck, with a hose you might even get enough pressure to knock a person down, like a firehose.

And what's so "heavy" about an acid rifle, anyway? I mean what part of a rifle that shoots rounds of acid (like what, paintballs filled with acid? I don't know) requires that monstrous design, with a barrelthat has a radiusas big as my head?

But lets forget all that and concentrate on what happens to the victim. I mean, you light a guy on fire, he's gonna feel it. You shoot him with a little spurt of acid...well lets say you're lucky and get him in the eye...well **edit**, he's gonna have to haul ass to the dearest highschool science classroom to use that little eye-cleaner fountain before he suffers permanent damage! And if you hit him anywhere else? Well crud. That's gonna leave a stain on his shiny new composite chestplate!Maybe you can sneak up on him and hit him over the head with that giant riflewhile he takes out a rag to wipe the acid off. Ahh! I just answered my own question! THAT'S why it's "heavy". I should have known.
