Thread: What are some good Launcher Pistols and Flamethrowers?
I would be interested in this also. Is it better to go high dmg or low delay with flame throwers?
The low delay have higher dps, but obviously you will use up more ham shooting so often.
On a damage per second basis, a 1% speed enhancementhas a mathematical advantage over a 1% (average)damage enhancement in this game because of the way speed and damage are calculated. So unless you hit the speed cap (is is one shot/second at the moment, so no one is even CLOSE to running into the cap with a Flamer--certainly ot once you count in the delay on the specials)*.
The reason is because of the weapon attack speed formula they use for this game. Assuming a 30% slice, though, a 30% speed slice leads to a1.42multiplier to dps, whle a 30% damage slice is only a 1.30 multiplier to dps.
That all falls apart when the speed cap comes into play though (and it is not inconceivable that the speed cap on Commando weapons may be raised to a level where it becomes more important).
---------Note--------
* With Clothing Attachments and Armor Attachments, it may be possible that someone will actually be hitting the speed cap--especially if he or she could increase their weapon speed skill to 100 or more...as, at that level, every shot (whether or not a special is used)takes onlyone second. If any Commando had ever managed that, though, I'd assume we'd have heard about it, as that person would be Death incarnate.
That said, I've never seen any flamethrower speed enhancers.
Sorry, the second sentence should have been:
"So unless you hit the speed cap (is is one shot/second at the moment, so no one is even CLOSE to running into the cap with a Flamer--certainly ot once you count in the delay on the specials)*, a speed slice is superior to a weapon slice."
Also, for the second poster...Flamethrowers do not get used up that fast...and with repairs can last many months even with near-constant use. (Please God, don't let them fix Disarming Shot to do weapon integity damage!!!!)

Ok here are my stats
Launcher Pistol- 74-274 damage and a 1.4 speed. 1.0 with speed power-up
Flamethrower-is something like 500-855 dfamge 3.5 speed
both got nice speed slices and the LP is made with a krayt tissue and got a sick speed slice
What are the stats on your Launcher Pistol and Flamethrower?
I don't know mine exactly off hand, but these are the rough estimates:
Launcher Pistol - 1.9 speed and 49 to 225 damage
Flamethrower - 4.3 speed and 455 to 985 damage
Are these good weapons? I made novice commando recently, and bought these for cheap, and sliced them myself.
