Quick question. Are flamers and HAR's affected by ranged or melee mitigation? What about withranged or melee defense?

knowing how broke we are, probably both, and they stack on top of each other aginst us.

what i want to know is why can't we take our flamethrowers and beat the holy hell out of melee fighters? i thought that's what the unarmed tree was for
