Thread: Why do people insist on Thermals for FS grinding?

When imp detonators are in most cases better. Imp detonators are 2200 and Thermals are 1800. In best case when attacking a target with Ap1 and you get the AP> AR bonus of 25% they have same effective damage.
But when you attack targets with no armor you don't get the AP bonus and Imp detonators are much better.
But still most people are asking for Thermals. I guess people have read some of the guides stating that Thermals are better which is wrong. The best grenade if you are master commando is protone (however dpending on how high heat resists are compared to blast resist) and then Imp detonators.
I prefer to make Thermals though since Imp detonators take a lot of good steel which I want to save

Yes protones are best of course but you need to be master commandos and most FS grinders are 4-0-0-0

Because:
1) People are dumb, they think higher up the tree better the weapon, Thermals are at Field Tactics IV, oh and compare laser Carbine to Elite
2) Easier to make. Imp dets use more resources than Thermals so I prefer to make thermals, even though the use crism.

I'm not online to check... but I think Thermals usually come out faster than Imps.

I use Kliknik glops. :-) Xixell grinds at Blueleaf to get the glands, Xixette turns 'em into glop, and I throw 'em at stuf. Works for me. (3.5 410+-2K+)

Hey...If Imp Detonators are better than Thermals...and ppl are using Thermals anyways...and they're just using our profession as a gimmick to grind Jedi...
1) Why encourage them to a faster grind without much effort on their part? Maybe they should actually research the profession...
2) Why tell them?

Personally, I prefer to use Imp's as they are generally stronger. But at the resource cost to make em (steel) they are a pain to make.
