Greetings all,
I am currently a TKM, 4334 CH with 4044 scout and 3430 marksman. I am getting the urge more and more to shoot stuff, and am looking at either BH, or Commando. I want to master the profession that I choose, so I am not really interested in combo BH/Commando hybrids. Which is better in PVP and PVE, or are they about equal? I like Commandobecause I can keep my TKM, but with BH, I can keep my scout. I have been debating this for weeks. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. I would especially liketo hear from those of youwho have tried both professions.
Thank you in advance!

I should have also mentioned that I mainly do PVE, but would like the option of being competitive (at least participating) in PVP.

Delari I just went thru the same situation on a decision. I first went bounty hunter and then when I realized I have to go into cities-which HATE me-I decided to go commando.
I also don;t have to worry about those pesky Bounty Hunter missions that drag you all over the universe while you serach foryour prey and you only get paid like 500 credits to begin with.
Good luck!

I just dropped master BH to pick up some commando skills. BH with novice pistoleer can get 4 health DOTs so you can burn/bleed stuff and your weapons are really fast. That being said you have to give up everything to be a BH. You can barely dabble in anything. You'll want to pick novice medic or you'll get toasted by a lot of stuff which leaves you with 18 remaining skill points. If you just dabble in the pistol skills from BH you can get the two extra health DOTs and have some more points left over to dabble with.
I almost have flame 4 in commando and I havn't seen how good the burn DOT is since the nerf. So far killing stuff is a lot slower but I'm also a slicer, rogue and I've picked up more pistoleer skills. I'm considdering dropping medic too since I can feign death. A template like this is just not possible when you choose BH so you are stuck with basically one bugged prof that many people are disappointed with.
PvP, neither is very good... With commando youcan puton a stronger burn before you die to give the enemy more wounds but that's the only real advantage I see. A master BH accuracy against defense stackers is rediculous so even if you are able to land one of your weak attacks you're most likely going to get beat to a pulp with people's stun weapons. Some claim that eyeshot with a geo blaster is devistating, but a good geo costs millions and are pretty rare compared to something like a stun baton or jawa ion rifle which are easy to obtain.

I've played both and think that unless you do a TKM / Commando build, bounty hunter is better. Bounty hunter has access to more damage types, state effects and does more damage overtime. Frankly, both professions are broken, but commando must rely on another profession to deal with armor and provide defenses. Bounty hunter has worse defenses, but builds on scout, which can provide some form of income.
Both professions are complete broken and which is better is based purely on the build.

A commando can get novice scout to harvest and only has to spend 15 points, a BH has to get master limiting the number of points they can devote to other combat skills making the commando much stronger overall in my opinion.

a master pistoleer / 0 0 4 0 Bounty Hunter is something lethal.
not only can he torso shot, but eyeshot as well.
Very good in PVP from what i've seen.

Ahhh, this debate reminds me of theold adage about the the Immoveable Object vs. the Unstoppable Force.. or should I say the Moveable Object vs. the Stoppable Force in this case. As most people have stated, both professions are a little borked right now.
Seriously, I think it would strictly come down to combat tactics, I have been beaten by Master BH's, and I have beaten Master BH's. It all depends on how close a Master Commando can get to them... you need to land a flame single on the BH within the first few seconds on the battle or you will probably be dead quick.

Thanks for all the response! It looks like Commando will be the way to go, especially since I don't have to give up TKM to do it. I just mastered CH last night, so I am going to play with that a while before making the change. The Commando'sseem to bemore versitile. They have 4 trees of combat stuff (however useless the acid rifle may be), and the BH only has three (one being wasted on investigation). Commando's can also blow stuff up which is really cool. The dabbling thing is important to me also. I might wake up tomorrow anddecide to be an artisan. lol

I did BH 2444, and got really annoyed trying to grind the investigation tree. So, I dumped all of it at once and have taken up Commando instead, which I am happy to say is preferable to BH. Both have they're faults, but as a BH I felt as if it was just an uphill struggle. At the moment I am happier playing the game than I was.
On the flip side I was thinking that once I have done Commando, and if the BH rumours are true about this Friday, then I may mix it up some and have Commando 0040 and BH 0004, this way you can then doa bit more. Not sure exactly how it will pan out yet, but that is the intention

As of Friday, BH requirements are master marksman and Exploraion 4, that means u can MBH and get commando 0040 or MBH/master pistoleer, hehe.
