Thread: Dev's, please give us hope!

I've been in this game since Beta, but I just recently have been playing as a commando.
I love the idea of being an elite "shock-trooper" that can flame things into submission; of being feared and respected for my prowess in battle and heavy weapons, and being an integral part of any PVE assault squad.
Unfortunately as we all know and as 9 out of 10 posts on this board will tell you, Commando has been broken since launch. Why is the "elite combat profession" of SWG getting schooled by fencers? Granted, Commandos are supposed to be ranged combatants- great! Then give us some weapons that let us do that damage at range. the FT is great, but that is our only weapon. The HAR is a joke at the moment, it should be much better if we're expected to dedicate a whole branch of the skill tree to it. Grenades are busted as well. The launcher pistol is a decent gun, and grants us the blast damage we need, but it hardly enough in a firefight. as for Heavy support weapons, well; I can't support to spend thousands of credits on something that I miss with at least 60 percent of the time. What really takes the cake for me is the Beam Rifle.Why is there a rifle with no certification in the game a year after launch? The Commando needs more weapons, more options, and just a little more TLC from the devs. My
I don't think its the wish of any Commando player to be some invincible force or unstoppable juggernaut of destruction. Fun as that would be, it would more than ruin the balance for the rest of the professions (*cough* like Jedi *cough*). We just want to be able to play our trade. We want to be "Masters of Ranged Combat" and as the FT IV box on the skill tree describes "be feared and avoided at all costs on the battlefield".
Let the TKA and Fencers and melee combatants be uber tanks, that's great for them. Bounty Hunters are dangerous and ruthless, great for them. Let us do what we're supposed to be able to- tobe the elite ranged combat profession of SWG.
The Commando needs more weapons, more options, and just a little more TLC from the devs. My only hope is that now that the Jedi revamp is done, the upcoming Combat balance will see a little love for commandos, and maybe help us out over here.
How about it devs? any hope?

if you feel like beating a dead horse go ahead...it only makes the meat a little more tender before ya cook it.....personally think someone needs to print every rant on the commando forums....send them certified mail to Thunderheart and The DEV team.....of course...that would probably be the closest we come to them reading this stuff....

Actually...I know for a fact that TH and JustG tend to lurk here often...I've run into JustG's Commando on TC on more then one occasion...
I spoke with TH recently and asked aboutposting something in our forum just to prove he lurks as much as he does...just a public message to let us know they haven't forgotten about us...
He replied that he only wants to post here (or in any forum for that matter)when he can give us something we can sink our teeth into...As soon as he has clearance to start talking CB with us and all the Commando Changes associated, he as well as other Devs, plan on speaking a lot with us, or at least giving us lots of info to gain our input...We should see Dev involvement in our Community rise as info comes out regarding the CB.
So he's basically just waiting until that point...He feels making any other type of post without any "meat & bones" wouldn't be worth our time to read/reply to....That's the main reason we haven't seen a Dev in here in awhile...And, personally, I'm glad he's sticking to this...we don't need warm and cuddley messages...we need Details...
If you look at the various Dev posts recently in other forums, they've all been regarding specific issues with "upcoming" details...The Devs are gathering together our "upcoming" details before they visit us as well...
I'm hoping to see something, anything, in the next week...if I hear more, I'll let you know...

But... but... I like warm and cuddley posts. 
At any rate I can understand that I guess. To tell you the truth I really just like knowing that they are at least reading our posts. It gets frustrating sometimes thinking that we arent heard since we are hit hard by patches time after time. I have to say that the commando board has to be one of the most activeprofession boards around. Constantly coming up with new ideas and responding to new players to the profession. Talking about the changes made and seeing how they effect our profession. For crying out loud we have a guild hall on TC! You would think that we would be the easiest profession to talk to and to pull ideas from. All they need to do is ask and read the posts...

You can't really fault the dev's for not having anything to say. If thier bosses tell them "Right now We're working on Jedi and JTL and you can't talk about the CB...." well what else can they do but what they've been told to.
But yes I would like to see a bit more info comming from the devs. One thing that really gets my hopes up is the current thing going on with smugglers. While some will still cry "Hey you said blah blah blah and didn't do it!!", It was made clear from the begining that the discussion there is just that discussion and tossing around of idea, with the glimmer of hope that a revamp is in the future somewhere beyond the CB and JTL.
I truly hope that the dev's take a lesson from the respose GreenMarine got with that and choose to ignore the people that take thier words out of context just as a reason to whine, and they become more willing to let out more information to us about what thier ideas are.
I remembera long while back before I took a break from the game TH mentioned something (and I can't remember what it was) but whatever it was it was a "we might do this" and when they didn't people jumped all over him about it. From that point on it seems SOE clammed up and we've been living mostly in the dark ever since.
I'm hoping that if we can keep the threads here constructive (and most are compared to many of the other forums, thanks all you commandos and Garvin) that the dev's will begin to give us more info than they have and give us a bit more to discuss than just pure wish lists. Or, at the very least let us know what just isn't going to happen so we can spend or time refining idea's that have a chance of being implimented.

Part of the problem with making "warm and cuddley" posts is if TH or JustG do one here, then someone in some other forum starts a thread of "Commandos get love, how come the Devs Hate Us"...And that can start an evil chain of events...That's why I think he's hessitent to do it...not because he doesn't like us, but because some other forum would create a stir over it...
Instead, until he has something subtantial, he's feeding me bits a pieces...Like the info the Heavy Weapon Mods I recently posted...

If TH came here and said anything, it would probably be "Would you people call Garvin off already...I'll spill the beans regarding the CB when I have beans to spill...geesh..."

Lol, Garvin, Always looks like your so calm and collected on the commando board here, well except for you getting worked up over the weapons delay like everyone else.
All I can imagine them saying on the corr board is wow why aren't all the players like Garvin hehe
