I'm currently a smugg/tk. I'm debating giving up smugg for commando. Reason 1, I loved burning stuff when i was a commando. Reason 2, Damn those 100% kinetic resist npc's. And reason 3, ATM master smuggler is nothing more then a cool title. My goal is to have a strong pve character. Any input? TY.

Yeah at the moment smuggler is only good for making a few credits and Low Blow pistol shot. I love Commando, but we too only have a short range of uses. I think you should go Commando. It is a good PvE skill and will work in well with your TKA defenses.

TK seems to go really nicely with commando. However, if you're master TK, i doubt you'll use your commando skills for much. I've been m.commando for a few months, and recently started working my way up the rifle tree. I'm 1224 in rifle right now and I already do more dps and have more damage options than I do as a master commando.

However, burninating is still fun, and I can't see giving it up. And it's just the thing sometimes, really. Great for clearing out mid-level critters that try to zerg you, especially in caves. (I'm thinking of the squill cave in particular, as I started the Hermit quests yesterday. Squills are heat vuln )

Really, you need to decide whether you want to be totally combat oriented or not. What fits your character concept? Smuggler, as you know, is not a straight combat profession. Commando is, or at least tries to be. Do you want to be pure combat? If so, then yeah, commando is a fun choice, and really easy to gain xp in, too, if you're wanting to get it "levelled up" before you actively use it. (And believe me, with our accuracy mods, you'll want to, at least somewhat.) There are plenty of guides here on this forum to tell you how to do it.

Good luck to you.
