Thread: BH?

So with the skill point reduction coming for bounty hunters, I'm thinking of dropping commando to try it out. So I look through the skill lists. You all know how we're always complaining about our lack of defenses?

Bounty Hunters get ranged defense +7, at master. And that is it. Well, also ranged damage mitigation, whoopee.

So **edit**? Any ex-bounty hunters here want to tell me what it's like?

Yes, we're actively complaining WITH Bounty Hunters. The only way our profession will get beefed up is if they do, seeing as how they will now take at least the same amount of skill points as us, if not still more. Both of our professions are screwed over right now.

Its not pretty i can tell you.

MBH is alot like being a MC , youre doing it for the roleplay aspect and *hope* in the class becomming what you want rather than doing it for any efficient way to kill anything.

Its kind of sad reallybut i can understand why dabblers lose patience listening to MBHers whining about the state of the profession - unlike other games we can quite easily redesign our characters by doing a bit of grinding.Problem is , some of us dont have that FOTM mentality and im glad in a away- would be a dull game if everyone flocked to the *best* template and then all swapped to the next best and so on , as soon as SOE made a change.


Take me for instance , im a lost cause in online games : i play classes that i think i empathise with or like the roleplay asepct of : in DAOC i was an assassin at release (awful class at the time) , in EQ a ranger (i always pick the paper bag) and in SWG a MBH - and with my free SPs tomorrow im going to STAY mbh and pick up flamethrower 4.

Im a sucker but i have fun! And thats what its all about.


For the good of the game though and to create a larger variety of classes being actively played in the GCW , SOE needs to increase MBHs , MCs and in general make range much more competitve to melee.


ps : to be a half decent BHer you really need to make sure you have great items and AA/CAs : get melee def/range def/dodge attachments and you'll stand a chance.Our defense otherwise is pitiful.

BH is a very fun PvE profession.The problem with most ranged professions in the game is that they don't do damage fast enough to make up for their poor defenses. I have a novice TKA who can tank better than my Master BH. Novice has about zero defenses. Things that are blue to me can wipe out my MBH if I'm not very careful. My novice TKA can tank two white con mobs and beat both of them. Heck I could do that at Unarmed IV. He can take on a swarm of blues and kick their butts with awesome AOE attacks. My MBH would get eaten alive. It's pretty much why melee is all the rage. They do as much or more damage as any ranged prof and have defenses that let them stand up to the toughest mobs. There simply isn't any downside other than kiting.
